What are your colors? I was in a wedding last summer where the groom and groomsmen wore chocolate brown. The bridesmaids dresses were a sort of gold silk with a chocolate brown sash. It worked for them, but I'm not sure it would be best with all colors.
that's what we have...the BM dresses are a celery/sage green with a chocolate ribbon

She had an inspiring brown tux wedding! I think it looked lovely.
We actually are stuggling with the same issue!! I think I would like to have the males in brown since my bridesmaids are going to be in brown. The guys are fine with it, but my mother thinks chocolate brown tuxes look too dated. I think we're probably going with them anyways.
I know Men's Warehouse and President's Tuxedo carries really nice brown rentals.
Our dresses are the Alfred Angelo clover... so it is close to a dark sage green. I think we will go with the brown tuxes.
We have a woodsy theme... is that too much!?! haha!
Should I have my girls wear brown shoes???
Oh I think brown would be cute with the sage green dresses. Brown shoes might go better than black.
I just got married in December and we did chocolate tuxes. They were striped with a shiny satin so they didn't look retro at all. My maids were also in brown, which I had doubts about for a bit, but it wasn't too much. I still haven't gotten my pro pics to show you, but there are a few good ones on our flickr if you're interested.
I know I looked everywhere for a shot of the whole wedding party before I picked the tuxes because I couldn't visualize that much brown. I never found a good pic so I just crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.
I'm also very very pale (I have a spray tan in the pics, believe it or not), and I think it complimented my skin tone quite well.
If you click on the wedding album, towards the bottom there are some better pictures of the tuxes that are a bit more clear.
The picture I attached is a good close-up of the tux.
I'm in the same position. I don't know weather to get choc tuxs either.
I am in the same position. My girls are wearing chocolate cocktail dresses and we've toyed with the idea of chocolate tuxes. We've finally decided to go with black tuxes with a brown vest and tie. I've googled the combo and it actually looks really chic! I was afraid choclate tuxes would look dated, but maybe that's because I have only recently convinced my own father to get rid of a suit that he's had since the 70's that was in chocolate brown!! (he never actually wore the suit) The thought of that suit makes me cringe, maybe that's why I didn't want to see the groomsmen in brown!!
we are very fair-skinned too, and our color theme is aqua and chocolate. we have five bridesmaids, two groomsmen, two groomsmaids and a flower boy. the bridemaids are wearing aqua dresses. the groomsmen, groom, flowerboy, and FOB are wearing chocolate tuxes with aqua vests. and the groomsmaids are wearing the same dress as the bridesmaids but in chocolate.
so i say YAY!
I love the idea of chocolate tuxes. Some say they will look dated, but I really don't care - I think they're awesome! Brown does look better with light skin tones than black does, I'd think.

Yay or nay?!
The Mr. thinks it would be best since I am REALLY fair skinned. What do you think? Is it 80's?
