I really wanted to do something big for our favours like a candy buffet but as my planning progresses and I’m finding more and more things to do/figure out, I’m wanting to settle on something simple. I’ve decided on two things and now I need to make a final decision.
#1: Chocolate. I’ll get a little celophane bag and fill it with 5 or 6 chocolate hearts or something…it would be perfect, except my wedding is going to be in August 13th which is usually a pretty hot day and eventhough our reception is in the evening, I’m worried about the chocolate creating a huge mess.
#2: Mints. I’ll get little organza bags in my wedding colours and fill them with 5 or 6 mints (the round smooth ones). I just think that this one is over done and isn’t anything original.
So what are your thoughts? Which one sounds better? …if anyone has any other ideas or a twist on these ones, I would love to hear them!

Chocolate! Is there any way that you can have someone wait to put them out until right before the reception so you don’t have to worry about melting?

chocolate gives me migraines, but i still would go with that b/c more people tend to like it.

It looks like we’re leaning towards giving Andes mint chocolates, which are the best of both worlds! You can make little personalized wraps for them and put them in a cute favor box.

I own a chocolate business so here’s my two cents. If you are doing an outdoor wedding, forgo the chocolate favors. Chocolate completely melts at body temperature (98.6) but will soften at temperatures in the 80s. White chocolate has the highest temperature tolerance.
Even if you keep the chocolate in air conditioning, or a cooler, when you bring the chocolate out into warm temperatures the chocolate will “sweat”. The condensation will discolor the chocolate or cause it to bloom (form sugar crystals) when the condensation evaporates.
I have a strict “no shipping” policy above 80 degrees. I just can’t guarantee the quality of my product above this temperature.

@MrsWall2B: haha sorry! We love Andes. How are you giving them out? I haven’t figured out how I want to present them yet.

@arenyth: I was going to suggest Andes also!! They are one of my favorite candies – chocolate & mint = best candy combination ever!
