So we’re thinking about doing truffle boxes as our favors. Since Fiance grew up here in Ohio and I grew up in Wisconsin, we thought it would be cute to get double truffle boxes to fill with one Buckeye and one stout beer truffle from this shop we found in Wisconsin. I’ve gotten in touch with the vendors who will be supplying the chocolates and I think we’re good to go there.
(I may or may not have ordered an extra half dozen of each for “sampling purposes.”)
Anyway, I made up some MOO mini cards with a variety of our engagement pics and a cute message describing what’s in the box. I figured a standard favor tag would be too small to hold all the information (i.e. what each chocolate is, what it represents, etc.). But now I’m trying to figure out how to attach the cards to the boxes.
I was thinking of getting these boxes in ivory:
They’re 3 inches across, and the MOO cards are 2.75 inches wide. So I could either put the card inside – my first inclination – or I could stick the card on top (secured with a glue dot) and then tie a ribbon around the whole thing. Alternatively, I could punch a hole in the card and attach it to the ribbon, but that might look silly since the truffle box is about the same size as the card.
1. Are these good favors? We’re also having a photo booth, so I don’t want to go too crazy or expensive. And I think people generally like chocolate.
2. How to attach the card? Cons for inside the box: people may not open the box and just leave the favor without seeing it, sanitary issues. Cons for outside the box: might be more difficult to secure, but if I use a glue dot people may not flip the card over to read what’s on the back.

I’m from Ohio and the buckeye is PERFECT! I think it’s a very good favor and very cute seeing as how it ties into you and your Fiance and where you both grew up!
I would also probably put the card on top with a ribbon, I think that would be your best bet, and it would add color to the boxes!

I would die. I am obsessed with buckeyes! and I’m a fan of edible favors..
Maybe have a saying on there stating that they are buckeyes since there may be someone who is allergic to peanut butter

@MlleBrielle: Here’s the draft text for the card:
When a Buckeye and a Badger fall in love…LOVE IS SWEET!
This box contains one Buckeye (contains peanuts) from Sportsguy27’s home state of Ohio and one stout beer truffle from Sportsgal31’s home state of Wisconsin. Enjoy!
I had to shorten to “peanuts” to make all of the text fit, but I think it gets the point across…?

I love edible favors. yum! If those are the boxes you’re thinking of using, you could fold down the inner flaps to cover the chocolates, put the card on top and then fold the top down. That way, the cards aren’t touching the candy, but are still loose. Great idea!

@sweetkischa: Wow, sometimes the simplest and best solutions are staring you right in the face! Thank you so much – that’s exactly what I think we should do!
