Hello everyone, my wonderful boyfriend has given me two ring choices and I would love to see any similar designs because I don’t have photos of them, just a description.
Ring 1 – 2 carat sapphire, cushion cut, platinum band with 2 rows of brilliant round diamonds
Ring 2 – 1 carat sapphire, cushion cut, white gold chunky band, 5 tapered baguette diamonds either side.
From the top both sapphires look roughly the same size but the 2 carat one is deeper.
Any opinions and pics greatly appreciated!!

Do you have bigger or smaller fingers? I’d go for the thinner band if you have smaller finger and the chunkier if you have bigger fingers!

I always like a skinny band, but I love baguettes too! Tough choice! Haha no help here. I agree with PP about the band size relative to your finger though. Do you have pictures? They sound so gorgeous!

This is a size 6 2 ct unheated sapphire set in platinum with half pave .4 ct diamonds.
Sapphires are different from diamonds. going by carat weight doesn’t mean the same as diamonds because the stones are heavier. My sapphire stone is the equivelent of a 1.5 carat diamond in size. What is more telling is the measurements of the sapphire. I would go with the larger carat only because if it is set deeper, it has more structural integrity. Sapphires that are cut too close to the surface tend to be cut incorrectly.

Mine is a 2.47ct heat treated cushion cut sapphire. My ring size is between 5 and 5.25, the ring was sized to 5.25. Mine faces up to look more like a 2 ct diamond.

do you have pics? Because cut is sooooo important with coloured gems, as is the colour of course. If it were me, I would want to make sure that neither windowed or blacked out. I would look for a blue that stayed vibrant and was glowy.

Thanks for your replies so far. We talked a bit more about it and he said he’s leaning towards platinum because it’s so durable. The colour is a medium rich blue for both but he said the 2 carat stone is more beautiful and the surrounding diamonds sparkle more. So now I’m thinking even though I love baguette diamonds the other ring might be a better choice. Also I have small fingers so even though I like thick bands the platinum one might suit me better. So hard to know without pics!!
