I don’t think it would be awkward. Call her up and say you miss her, and are so sad you live too far to see her regularly, but you’d love to have her for the big day. She’ll understand.

@Merlin29:  Oh, I can’t read.  LOL!  Forgive me.  It should be Friday.  😛

I don’t think hiring her for your wedding means she has to do your hair for all of eternity until the day you die.  I don’t think you even have to mention anything about who will do your hair in the future or “break up” if you decide to find a new stylist.  I’ve never “broken up” with a stylist.  I just stop going and find someone new.  Since she’s not a stranger but a sister of your friend, then I can understand your concern about feeling the need to talk about it.  I like bowsergirl’s suggestion.  I think that’s completely appropriate.
