Newly engaged, and I’m overwhelmed, to say the least! My Fiance’s parents and mine met this evening to discuss the wedding, but didn’t get into the budget, who’s paying what, etc.
I have a lot of ideas of what I’d ideally like to have, but have no idea what they cost. So my question is this–do I contact vendors without knowing my budget, with only a vague idea of our # of guests, OR do I figure out how much I can spend in each category then go from there? Would they even be able to give me much information this early in my planning? (engaged 2 weeks only). I have a feeling it could be easier to call vendors and get prices, but without knowing what everyone wants to spend, I feel like the numbers they give me won’t mean much!
Basically, where do you start? How do you put your ideas of what your wedding looks like, into tangible prices, vendors, etc? How do you choose…anything?!
AND also–should I do my lighting stuff through my florist? In sad news, I mentioned how I want this lighted, lovely, glowy thing going on at the wedding, and my dad was all “Well that’s not really something I’m interested in”. Yug.
