Haruyou:   Are there two photographers?  If not, is there an option for a second shooter?

I think engagements shoots are a waste of money.  Your wedding day is when you need to spend the big bucks.  There are no re-shoots for your wedding.  But you get a friend with a fancy dlsr and go to the near forest/meadow/pier/beach for an engagment pic and you’re done.  It’s easy to take a few nice pictures with good outdoor lighting.  If you don’t like the pictures, you can pick up a cheap groupon for an indoor/outdoor shoot.  When it comes to hanging a picture on the wall, I’m going to pick a wedding shot, not an engagment photo.

I like the bridal photo shoot and the extra filming time in the Elite package, but PP is right about the engagement album being unnecessary. Maybe you could do the deluxe wedding package and up the hours of filming and add the bridal shoot if that’s important to you?

Haruyou:   Thanks!  In that case, I’d probably go with the Elite package since it is generally better to have more hours than you may need – you can use them for first look or more portraits after 4 pm – in better, warmer evening light.

The engagement shoot can be most helpful, not simply for more pictures, but to get a feel for how you and the photographer work together, to get used to how he/she poses you, and so you and the photographer(s) can learn what angles and poses you prefer of yourselves.    I consider the engagement shoot to be a valuable learning experience for everyone, to become comfortable with each other – something I’d never give up.
