Ok, I have to admit. I don't like chores...ha ha ha. Who does?

Anyway, I never really learned how to tackle it all.

How do you do it? Laundry on Monday? Bathrooms on Tuesday? or one whole day of cleaning? I just need advice/ideas on how you tackle keeping your place clean and presentable!  thanks.

I just do it when it needs doing! With just two people, laundry is easy... and I LOVE doing laundry. Weird? Yeah, maybe. :)

I try to clean the bathrooms twice a week and obviously the kitchen, dining room, and living room get cleaned daily. It's just a matter of when works for you and your hubby.

@symphony: Holy shit do you seriously clean your kitchen, dining room and living room daily? In what time? I'm super impressed over here.

For me it was very important for chores to be divided equally. I do laundry and vacuum/clean surfaces, my husband cleans bathroom/kitchen and takes out the trash. That right there can make a huge difference. I clean once a week, and do laundry once every two weeks, usually on Saturday cause H works and I don't.

I pretty much do laundry daily, sometimes every other if I feel like being lazy. As for the other stuff, it find it makes it much easier if you clean on a daily basis. I dont leave the house in the morning unless our condo is clean. Whatever I don't get to before work, I do after. I'd much rather devote 20 minutes a day to maintaining a clean home than spending hours on the weekend cleaning.

@ symphony and caitmarae: Everyday? Does that include vacuuming and dusting? Or just picking up stuff that's laying around?

@Charm bracelet: This is my thoughts exactly. I pick up the house of course, but as far as cleaning goes, if everyday is the norm then I'm filthy.

@Charm bracelet: Yes for the most part. FI vacuums every other day since doing so everyday would just be a waste of time. I don't really have to dust all that often since everything is clean, for the most part.

Since I stay home, I do something every day. One day it's laundry, one day it's the bathroom, one day mopping, etc, etc.

@Charm bracelet: I'm not that great at it either. My FI jokes about it by calling my Dusty Springclean. I wish I had the answers. The only routine I have is that I hoover twice a week but always on a Monday as it's bin day on a Tuesday and there's always so much to get rid of - having 3 dogs.

    eh i dispise cleaning.

During the week is hard for us, since we both work, but obviously if we need lundry we will do.

I do serious deep cleans of the bathrooms/vacumming/dusting like twice a month (every other weekend) on sundays before football.....just so we both have a nice clean house to come home too. On the other weekends in between, we'll do a light clean, tidy up and shape up the bathrooms.

We hired a cleaning person for a while when we could afford it- had them come once every 2 weeks....THAT WAS AWESOME!!

    haha

I clean the house when it needs it, which translates into about once every 2 weeks. BF and I have a pretty small house and no kids or pets so that helps. But when we make dinner, we usually wipe down the entire kitchen when we clean up.

The one thing I do pretty regularly is laundry (about one load every three days.) BF has a job that required pretty regular laundry, plus he's pretty avid about his fitness so the laundry piles up pretty quickly. Speaking of, I have to do a load...damn...

I clean once a week - usually on Saturdays.  That includes laundry, bathroom, floor, living room.  My bf does the kitchen (it grosses me out too much).  I am generally fairly organized so I don't have to "tidy up", just actually clean.

FW does all the laundry. She normally does one load during the week and the rest on the weekend

I do the dishes, and most of the cleaning up around the house. We're both pretty neat so theres not much to do.

We normally do all of this stuff on Saturday's at some point.

My house is on the market, so i'm getting better at having it look perfect before I leave for work in the morning.  I'm totally channeling my mother, washing things as i go... if i take something out i use it and put it back immediately ... i'm scaring my self LOL .

This is what my husband and I did. It may sound like a little much, but it really has helped us...

First we made a list of all the chores we needed to do around the house. Then we decided how often they needed to be done and what the deadline would be. (I.e. Dishes done before bed, dishwasher emptied before leaving for work.) Then we split them up evenly.

There are some weeks where things don't get done and sometimes things need to be done on weeks when they aren't scheduled, but for the most part it is really nice to have a list to go back to and keeps us both accountable.

Dishes get done daily, laundry every few days.  Everything else gets done as needed - mostly by my hubby who finds it relaxing to come home and clean!

@Dragonsus: Wow, can I borrow your husband? Relaxing?? I find it relaxing to come home and do anything BUT clean the house. LOL

I hate cleaning. Hate, hate, hate!! Just cleaned the house this morning. I usually clean every other Sunday morning. I hate every second. Hate mopping, vacumming, dusting, bathrooms. Bleh! Laundry my husband and I both do every few days. We share that task. And lucky for me, he does dishes daily. I hate doing dishes! The only thing I do like about cleaning is jamming to good music while cleaning. You gotta crank it up and dance while you clean. It definitely helps. :)

All of you that clean daily...wow! I wish I liked to clean! Never have, probably never will. lol

I feel like a filthy slob.  I try and keep things tidy daily and of course do dishes and clean the kitchen after every meal but serious cleaning is only done on the weekends.

I like to do everything all on one day.  It makes me feel better and I can just do a little "touch up" throughout the week.

Of course, this is assuming I do any chores at all.  Honestly, the fiance prefers when we just hire someone to clean once a week.  He doesn't like feeling like he's (in his words) "using me" because I'm cleaning up after him.  It works out well for me!  I am not a huge fan of chores anyway!

I know its weird, but I love cleaning. I just cant relax if the house is a total mess. But, I don't really have time during the week. Its just the two of us so the house stays pretty tidy during the work week. I do laundry every few days and dishes are easy because we have a dishwasher. On Saturday or Sunday morning I spend 1-2 hours cleaning from top to bottom-dusting, vacume, bathroom, changing bed sheets, etc.

Uh we just do it when it needs to be done. There is no schedule. I've tried having a schedule but it just doesn't fit. I usually clean the most on Saturday or Sunday and do laundry on the weekend and once during the week, but I pick up here and there.

    @charmbracelet

Oh no, no vacumming everyday! Our apartment's not that big and the mess isn't that bad, so it's not that hard! But, for the first four months we lived here the dishwasher didn't work. I totally slacked on the dishes then because it took so dang long so I only did it probably every other day... gross I know.

Weekly we do bed linens, clean the bathroom, vacuum, sweep, dust, etc.

We each do our laundry whenever it gets built up, and throw whatever household laundry like towels/dish clothes is lying around in the machine too.

Whoever cooks dinner gets the night off, and the other person does dishes/sweeps/cleans surfaces in the ktichen.
