Just wondering... does anyone else send out Christmas photo cards? Just wondering how tacky, hip, common or anything else it may be to send out a photo card of me & DH in front of a Christmas tree for our 1st Christmas. I know I started getting these from friends once they had children.

I think they CAN be tacky, but they usually arent...I'm not so in love with those ones that walmart/grocery stores will make you (you know, with a photo, and an extra white part that says "happy holidays" or whatever)...I like ones where people have added a photo to a card, or made the cards themselves (a simple paste onto a blank card is even nice!!!)  I'm more inclined to keep a card if it includes a photo.  Plus, I love seeing couples/kids grow up year to year!

I wont send christmas cards till I'm married, but when I do, they will probably include a photo, if not on the card, in the card.

My family has been sending them out for years and I always cringed as a child over the photo that my mother picked. BUT -- it is a guilty pleasure of mine to check out other people's photos - see how people are growing up and what not. Still, i think you should choose between sending out a photo card and a letter, do not do both! that is what I think would be tacky.

I like them! We are not organized enough to send them ourselves, but I enjoy seeing the updated photos each year.

we did a photo card last year with our engagement photos and made one this year (first year married) with a wedding photo.  not sure what we'll do moving forward.

I agree, photo cards for special occasions is definitely appropriate and a fun way to share your family/personal developments. Doing it every year can get tedious - some years you/your kids just aren't photogenic! Everyone remembers those awkward years of childhood..not sure I want to put my kids through that in mass mailed photos.
