I got my in-laws a GPS that they could use since they travel quite a bit. I'd also suggest a digital photo frame. You can probably get a really great deal with Black Friday being tomorrow.
Well i was actually thinking of making gift baskets. I found this website on making gift baskets
and since im a little short on cash this year i figure i would make a tea basket for my FMIL and put in a warm blanket and a coffee mug saying "best mother in law ever" or something and just things like that
For my FFIL i was thinking something campy... like maybe some tin plates and things and a cookbook for grilling and putting it inside of a something?
Anyways, gift baskets are the best. I did a superbowl gift basket for my brother and put in a gift card to his favorite store and he really liked it.
I am getting my future in-laws a gift card to one of their favorite restaurants -- something they can enjoy together.
I have absolutely NO idea what to get them!!! They're pretty impossible to buy for...
We've actually decided to stick to this rule: if we can't immediately think of something they (FILs, siblings, etc) want or need, we're going to make a donation to a charity in their name. We'll do lots of research to find the right organization for each person, but we're really excited to give charitable contributions considering the economy that we're in!
I was lucky that I was able to find a peach scented gift basket for my MIL. It's her favorite scent and it's difficult to find anything with that scent anymore. Otherwise, I would have probably gone along the lines of a digital photo frame, since she pointed one out in the paper on Thanksgiving.
As for my FIL, one of my SILs is buying him a Wii. I know he likes golf, so I thought I would get him the sports accessories pack to go along with it. If that isn't going to work, than something Notre Dame will do.
For my SILs, I have no idea. I'm leaning towards some winter wear or movies or tv shows that they like. I haven't really felt like I've gotten to know them well, so it's difficult.
I really like the idea of a digital photo frame for my inlaws...thanks girls!
The best christmas gift for inlaws is a nice bottle of wine! (But only if you know that they drink!)
This is what I gave to my husbands parents when i spent my first Christmas there. I looked up what a quality bottle was by reading some blogs. That way I had some things to point out about the wine when they opened up the bottle. I looked like an expert telling them that it has hints of oak and berry, which was really just me quoting the blog. If you're not sure what their tastes are, go with white wine as it is easier for most people to drink. Here's a good example of how a wine blog can make you sound like a connoseuir!
It's the perfect gift, expecially when you're still getting to know one another.
