Christmas shopping has begun!!
What have you/are you buying your inlaws for Christmas?! 🙂
In past years I have put together really nice gift baskets filled with a bottle of wine, box of chocolates, jams, cookies, cheese and crackers, and wrapped it with a beautiful bow.
I’ve been doing that a few years in a row now! Maybe we can all give eachother ideas

@westcoast_girl: I have a huge problem with this every year 🙁 MY FMIL does not drink so alcohol is out but I have done fine chocolates and last year I did a hand blown glass ornament of a dog bone and some treats for her dogs (She really loves her dogs). I don’t know what I’m going to do this year. I’ll be watching this thread for ideas.

I have no idea, but I just had to say that this post gave me a mini panic attack thinking about buying gifts for my in-laws (as I feel every year).

No idea what to do for FMIL but for FFIL we always get him toys. He always gets us fun stuff too, like Legos! He still loves Angry Birds so we’ll probably get him this Angry Brids K’Nex thing we found.
This probably isn’t that helpful for other people since I think we’re just really weird.

I do a photo book every year for my FMIL. It is way more organized than ordering her a million prints everytime we do something. I also do one for my FI’s grandmother. I just feel that way they get to see anything they “missed’ from activities and vacations we may have taken. This year, I’m really excited because I get to put the pictures from when FI proposed to me, which I know his grandmother will really love.

They get us at Thanksgiving, so we don’t get them Christmas gifts. I do bring homemade pies for the holiday we celebrate with them, though!

@westcoast_girl: In the past we have done separate gifts, but becuase my FIL is an ungrateful jerk and gives all his gifts back and becuase MIL and FIL hate each other, we get them a gift they can do together, lol. We are so nice right? We got them a giftcard to a very fancy restaurant a few Christmas’s ago, and they actually went out together, so since it worked out so well we are getting them another giftcard this year so they can go out together.

@westcoast_girl: last year we got them a GPS system for thier car– they raved about ours when they visited us when we lived out of state.
The year before we got them a digital photo frame and had it pre-loaded with family photos.

My FIL loves golf and tennis, so balls are a really cheap/practical gift for him. I have given MIL a fluffy robe, slippers, soft plush blanket. Photo books from wedding (Shutterfly) or photo calendars for the coming year. The calendar is a great tradition – my mom actually makes one for her MIL (my grandma) every year.
