How do you decorate yours?  Is it fancy?  Full of heirloom ornaments?  Good ol fashioned popcorn on a string?  Share pictures of your tree or at least what you want it to look like!

I don't HAVE a tree. I have a mantle with ornaments on it, though. And a wreath... with lights! And garland. Still on the floor.

Our tree is all gold, but next year I want to do red and silver or all handmade ornaments... it just gets pricey though!

Here is a pic of our 9 foot tree!

@MrsBee- Baby got you up? :p

Our tree will have red and gold ornaments, though it looked like Sears snuck some purple-y ones in the box... I just bought cheap ones online lol I would do the popcorn and cranberry garland, but I'm too afraid of it atracting roaches! We have a gold star tree topper, and I bought a snowman ornament that says our first christmas or something like that lol I'll share pics as soon as we get the tree. It should be delivered via UPS tomorrow!

Wow, Mrs. Bee your tree is great!  We usually do a color theme for our ornaments.  I'm thinking we might go with red and gold this year.  We always have white lights (he hates colored lights) and no tinsel (I hate tinsle).

@Jessie I hate tinsel too! Ugh! When I was a kid we used to have a cat who would eat it. Didnt hurt her, but that made for some interesting kitty poo! That stuff really just gets everywhere.

As much as it doesn't "match our decor or style AT ALL, I insist on having a tree full of ornaments from when I was little, from vacations, etc...I can't help it, I am super sentimental at Christmas!  :)  We are putting ours up on Friday, so I will post pictures then!

    Bee-  love your tree!

We don't have any heirloom ornaments, and I don't think our parents do either.

My mom bought a tree many years ago for maybe $5 on a clearance rack, so she gave it to us.

I wanted tinsel and garland, and BF wanted multicolored lights, so we compromised.  I got garland/tinsel, he got multicolored lights.  We also decided we needed to show ownership of our tree with our initials.  (I guess my way of nudging BF is saying "oh I would LOVE to put an initial on this, but we can only choose one... I vote for (my last initial)".)   We haven't found a topper yet, but for now I have a color-changing snowman hung up there.  My tinsel was only long enough to go around the bottom of the tree, and I am too cheap to buy more.

BF chopped the top and bottom of the tree from the picture.

I started out all green and red with some white lights.  Now that I have 5 kids in the house, it's a whole mixture of all their crafts and other stuff they put on the tree.  Oh well.  Maybe one year I'll get to do two trees - theirs and mine.

We sadly don't have a picture of ours, but we decorate it with a mix of multi-colored ball ornaments, sentimental ones and vintagey ones. My favorite ornament that we purchased this year is the owl from C&B :)

ours is red, silver, and white. alongside our generic ornaments we have an ornament to commemorate a major event of each year starting with the first year we put up our own tree in our own house. this year, we hung our cake topper to commemorate our wedding earlier in the year. :)

@ Miss Chapstick - I LOVE the owl ornaments!! So cute!

We are doing our tree in mostly reds & golds (lots of glitter). We have fruit ornaments, glittery apples & pears, that are very cute :)

We haven't put our tree up yet - but I'm super excited - hoping to get it done this Sunday!! Mostly it will be white lights with sentimental ornaments from childhood.

Ours is artificial and I decorate it with mostly antique ornaments.  I have 100 or so ornaments from both sets of my grandparents.  I also have a collection of angel ornaments - my mom has picked out one for me and my sister every year since we were born.  White lights and a star on top.  :)

    It's a mix and match!
We have a tradition where we buy one new really nice keepsake ornament every year. Then the FI also has a whole bunch from when he was a kid.

Not up yet. But I have heiorloom ornaments from my grandmother and lots of ornaments that I was given or have been collecting since childhood. I'm not sure what kind of stash my husband has. I haen't looked at his stuff yet and I can't remember what he had out last year and I don't think he had all his stuff out anyway.

We don't have any heirlooms and I don't really dig traditional christmas colors, so we have a white tree with purple, blue, pink, silver and white balls (and some that are all silver glittery), and fringy type crap at the top instead of a topper. The mantle has apothecary jars from my wedding with ornaments in them (idea courtesy of crebre) and my noel stocking hangers. Still have to buy a stocking for the hubs.

I'm not into the themed christmas tree thing. I like colored lights and just a mix of all kinds of stuff. My first year with a tree I went and bought all different colored balls to hang (there is no way to say that that it doesn't sound a little dirty... sorry lol). Now I try to buy a few new ornaments every year. I love old fashioned tin ones but I buy whatever I love.

We haven't decorated our tree yet! It will just be a bunch of random ornaments! (and ones that won't break since we have a 2 year old!) My parents to a color coordinated tree though, usually like blue and silver or red and gold. I love it, but it just won't work for us and our homemade ornaments from our little one!

FI and I don't have our own Christmas tree becuase we ususally go to visit our parents over the holidays. FMIL always had a beautiful tree with lots of antique ornaments. My mom always decorates our tree as a sort of hodge podge of ornaments and lights from over the years. We definitely still hang craft ornaments my sister and I made when we were little!

I think having a themed tree could get pricey (if you change it each year of course), but I like trees that have white lights and ribbons that go from the top to the bottom. Next year I will get my chance to decorate when my HUSBAND (eeeeK!) and I have our first Christmas together :)

Jojo, I have a fake, and always have.  BF says he started out with live and switched at some point.

I'd stick with fake, because at least you know the tree itself should look the same every year.  That's one variation you won't have to worry about, along with shedding needles and bugs and such.  I also figure there's a one time cost of x, as opposed to a yearly cost.

I guess if you want the "pine" smell, you could hide some of those car-fresheners in it?  BF suggests spraying it with watered-down pine sol...

Mrs. Bee  - 9ft? Wow! That looks like a Dept. store tree.

We put ours up on Sunday, it's a mix of everything - old ornaments, some new ones we've bought together, I'm not picky on how it looks but I like the glow of clear lights over multi-color lights. This is a picture from last year cuz we can't find the camera chord for this year's.

(please excuse the enormous old-school stereo, that's FI's and was totally gone as of the Jan 09)

so, I got our tree UP today, but haven't decorated it yet. I forgot I need to buy hooks for the ornaments! lol I'll have to stop at Target on my way home tomorrow. I think hubby secretly likes the tree though!! (for those who don't know the backstory, hubs is a grinch and didn't want a tree. never had one, never celebrates holidays, etc, and it kind of made me upset. then he said we can get one as long as it was under $70 so, I did) Why do I think he secretly likes it? Because I was looking at the front page of Yahoo and one of the news stories was about the Obamas lighting up the national Christmas tree.  and what does dear hubs say when I clicked on the link? "ours is better" :D Seriously, it makes me all giddy inside. yes, ours is only 4 1/2 feet tall and has no decorations other than the clear lights that it came with, but he said it was better!! even though he hates Christmas! I tried to call him on it, saying "so you like our tree then?" and he said no, but whatever, he just doesn't want to admit it. Made my day!

Ours is white, too.  We did pick out a few bright colored ornaments to go on it, but really we just have a mix.  It's a little retro and kitschy, but we love it!

We have a bunch of other Xmas decorations in our house.  My goal is to have a Christmas explosion in our living room--inspired by Lily, Marshall, and Ted's apartment on How I Met Your Mother.

We just bought our ornaments and strings of LEDs. But we're picking up a Noble Fur tommorrow. I really like a refined color palate on trees, because I don't like the business of the multi-colored lights. I do all silver and white ornaments. :o) Ala...this tree.

We just got back from selecting ours from a family member's tree farm in NC! It's a tradition for us, Christmas trees in my family = big deal :D We collect ornaments as the "family hobby" (antique ones, new ones, we exchange lots every year!) We got it up today, tomorrow we decorate! It's at my parent's house (FI and I don't keep a tree because this one is such a big deal), and they have a tall upper living room ceiling, so this tree is 12 1/2 feet. Incredibly difficult to select one tree out of acres of gorgeous trees! This is a pic of last year's (the tiger... don't ask :P)

I don't have any pictures, but our tree is a 7.5' fake tree. We use white lights and blue and silver balls with a few country-esque ornaments (an ode to the ornaments we both grew up with, but none of them are actually heirlooms or from our parents). We also have a series of snowmen in various poses with different month birthstones I got on clearance at Boston Store for $1 each (down from $20 each!) 2 years ago as well as a series of ornaments depicting love- a pair of kissing frogs, a pair of kissing kids, a silver heart, etc.

I have promised FI that next year he can have the tree how he wants it- which would be gold and red everything. We'll pick up next year's ornaments on clearance after this Christmas (cause that's how I roll when doing holiday shopping- buy on clearance for next year!).
