I know this Christmas just got over, & I know my wedding is a ways away but I’ve been told from friends that are married it’s better to start getting ideas together sooner rather than later. So my wedding will be in Dec. and I had a few ideas I’ve come up with and wanted to share and get input from other future brides.
-I wanted my colors to be mostly red with w/ some champagne and greens in there as well. I want to wear a white dress w/ a red or black sash and a little white wedding jacket over it. I want my bridesmaids to wear red dresses w/ champagne sashes and my flower girls w/ champagne dresses and red sashes.
-For a guestbook and guest favor holder I wanted to have a Christmas tree covered in candy canes and Christmas ornaments with our wedding info as favors. I wanted to have that right next to the guestbook table. For the guestbook I want to have a table set up w/ paper cut-outs w/ strings attached so the guests could write something on em and then replace their “guestbook” entries on the tree with the favors and candycanes they can take home with them.
-I also want to have another tree set up and instead of having a gift table, geusts could place their wedding gifts under and around the tree.
-I want to have centerpieces like this. Hope the link works. http://media.merchantcircle.com/18937377/Odd-79323_Lantern_Centerpiece_White_LG_full.jpeg
-I am really liking the ideas of a cupcake tower, ive liked them ever since I saw them. I’m not too serious of a person and I think they look fun and playful, but I dont want them to look too kid’s birthday party. Was also wanting to have a small regular cake layer on top that we could actually cut into for the cake cutting. Any ideas?
That’s really all I wanted to ask about for now. If anyone has any other ideas for a Christmas/winter wedding I would love to hear them-thank you! =)

i think your ideas are great, your wedding sounds like it will be beautiful! i just have one suggestion, if you do happen to have some non christmas celebrating guests, you might want to think about having another kind of favor as well. i’m a jew and i’ve been to a few christmas weddings. while i always think the decor is beautiful, i always have to take home an ornament and i feel bad because i have nothing to do with it so it goes to waste, plus just because i’m a jew i don’t get to have a favor?

That’s a really great idea. I dont really have anyone I can think of that I know that is of another religion, but you never know. Any suggestions for another favor for specific people?

aww who cares if your wedding is still far away – it’s never too soon to plan! especially if christmas just passed, because everything is still fresh in your mind 🙂
i’m not engaged yet, but my bf and i have also spoken about dec 2011 so i guess we’re month twins!
some small but christmasy ideas – maybe in regards to food you could offer like, hot chocolate and hot apple cider as drinks along with your typical coffee and tea? i don’t know if you’re doing anything like that, but it’s definately festive!
unfortunately that’s the only thing i’ve got right now as i’m looking for more of a blue and silver theme that’s not overly festive, but i do like the ornament idea!

I am doing a Christmas wedding — and am so excited about — thought I would share just a few of my ideas.
Colors are going to be pewter (dark silver) and emerald green so that we can blend wiht established decor at the church and recption site. Any color of silver will actually blend in.
I really want te wedding to be interactive so we have a few games built in and will have a phot station with props that will serve as the guest book. Also have chalk boards so people can write messages.
No favors as I am bride with terminal cancer and we will be making a donation to Making Memories which actually supplies cancer birdes with wedding dresses. Medical costs are so high its hard to plan a wedding and pay for your medical bills.
I will have some dessert takeaways though. We will set up a table where we will have a manzanita tree decorated with mistletoe. There will be tons of green M&Ms (we met when we were 14 and I gave him a love note and green M&Ms – now we are 42) and sugar cookies wiht our monogrma and colors. We will lable the table “cookies and kisses”. I will have clear cellophane bags with our monogram stickered on them.
I will be using the huge oversized poinsettas that you can get from WalMart or Sam’s to line the aisle and then bring them over to the reception. Inexpensive way to really fill space with something beautiful that is still thematic.
I have tons of other ideas — message me if interested!

I did the Champagne colored dress with my brides maids in hunter green and claret. I chose the colors i did, because it would be easier to blend my color chooses with the time of year and the location decorations. just to give you an idea how it all looks together…………
personally, i like your champagne and red sash idea. unfortunately, i didn’t know any little girls to be my flower girl.
