I will spend about $150 on FH.

About the same for my best friend.

$25 gift cards for various friends/in-laws.

I do not stress about gift shopping any more. I focus on CELEBRATING the holidays. In fact, I will not even step foot in a store until after the holidays (except for the grocery store and the pet supply store).

I LOVE christmas and tend to go overboard with presents (especially for mom mom and 6 nieces and nephew, and of course FI) We have all decided to keep Christmas small this year since money is tight for everyone.  So I’m going to try to only get 1-2 gifts per person (nothing crazy expensive. My mom made me PROMISE i wasn’t gonna buy anything expensive or go overboard LOL) except for my FI. I’m gonna buy him whatever I want lol.

I always go overboard but this year I cannot.  I’m going to try to spend about $30 a person, though…so who knows??

Hmm good time to make a list (cause I know you all care):

Kids: each will get a book and something to Art with (there are five kids)

Sister-in-law: BOOKS and wine

Mom: some yarn, some tea, a book, maybe some pottery, some beer

Dad: iTunes gift card for his iPad, some wine

Husband: urgh

His Dad: …??

His Mom: Modern Family DVDs

His sister: some t-shirts or a sweatshirt (she is my best friend so this will be fine)

Grandpa: a book about trains or England

Hmm well that was easy.

We’ll probably spend around $200-300 on family (13-sh people), and probably get each other something less costly, (All I want for Christmas….  is a new showerhead).  I’m not sure what I’m getting him yet, but last year I think we only spent around $30 on eachother.

I will spend most of the money on my FI and my mom…for him I will get something around $500-$1000…and I am planning on taking my mom shopping and buying her a dress for my wedding and tons of other clothing and shoes..

for the rest of the people like my in-laws and my FI’s sister and nephews I will spend around $150-200 a person..

and for my friends between $50-100…

Christmas is a big holiday for me…and I safe money for the gifts for the whole I always feel pretty comfortable right before holidays because I don’t have to pull all these money out of my bank account at once..

Nothing on each other because we are going on vacation to Costa Rica instead.  In other people?  As least as possible.

Every year, it’s the same thing. My family tells me there is no need for gifts, but they still send me a list (and ask for mine) and I have people asking me if I want to contribute to X’s gift.. Usually I don’t mind, I like offering gifts and I still find some money within my budget to offer a 15-20$ gift each, but this year, FI and I are so broke. I don’t even think we will offer each other anything. I’d like not to spend anything beside wine if I have dinner at my parent’s place or something … but I don’t know if I’ll get pressured to give something. I don’t want to sound as if I’m not capable of generosity, but let’s face it : if I give something, it’ll be paid by credit. I don’t want to put myself into more debts for Christmas gifts. 🙁

We’re going easy this year, typically, we really unload on people for Christmas, but with us wedding planning, it won’t be as much.

We’re going to get our parents & immediate family, as well as our [my] neice. We normally spent about $200 or so on her because we like to spoil her, but we’ll probably knock it down to $100.

Here’s a picture from all the presents we got her last year!

@brokeninnj:  My budget is generally around $700 but I think this year I’m trying to keep it around $200 because I’m BROKE. We shall see.

I’ll probably spend $20-50 on DH, but that’s the only person I’ll be shopping for!

@brokeninnj:  LOL…I have a reason for that….we all live in different countries…and I don’t see my family or FI’s family we don’t give each other gift for other holidays…like birthdays.. (I mean FI and I always give each other gifts…but we are not exchanging gifts with other people usually)….I send flowers to my and his mom, and sister…but no real gifts…

So, CHristmas is the time when we reunite…and I feel like I can spend extra..:)

Ugh. Christmas.

I love Christmas, which makes it really frustrating that my family apparently doesn’t.

I’m the type that would love to get a present for everyone in my family.

1 for my mom, 1 for my dad.. 1 joint present for my sister and her husband…another joint present for my other sister and her husband. And at least one for EACH of their kids. 5 kids in total..And of course a few for my FI.. one for his mom and moms boyfriend, one for his dad and his dads wife, and one for each of his grandparents.

What drives me absolutely up the friggen wall.. and I am NOT a selfish person…but my sisters do not even attempt to give anything to my FI and I. assuming we only spend $50 on each of their kids (we always go over..) thats $250. Assuming I get them each a joint gift.. $200. $250+ on one family, $200+ on the other. We get a Christmas card.. if that.

What do they say to this? “We never said you had to get the kids anything.” Really? I’m not going to get my only nieces and nephews whom I see everyday (or at least every other day) a christmas gift? I’m not asking for a present. Just do something thoughtful for once for the few family you have in town.. We babysit for free, take the kids to movies or out to eat. And you can’t throw a movie gift card in the card? So weird. My family is the only family I know that would ever do this.

So irritating. Because of this, instead of useful gifts like clothing or pjs. We get the kids the messiest or noisiest possible toys we can find. Revenge: check.

I don’t really have a set budget for Xmas. So far I’ve spent $200 on 4 gifts. I have at least 4 more gifts to get.
