@AndysCraftsNmore:  Chucks sound like they should be just fine!  🙂  You should be able to dance in them with no problem.  I’d get them now so you can break them in, but you’ll be able to dance in those way more than with heels anyway. 😉

can you practice in them before so you know how they will move or stick on the dance floor?

I don’t think the rubber sole on chucks will let you to “slide” much.  You can try ballet flats?

I’d go for a pair of motorcycle boots with a worn-down (on non-grip / not rubber) sole.
Essentially like cowboy boot bottoms and a buckled-up top.

Alternatively, a pair of cheap flats (once again, non-grip sole) or black ballet shoes would work for a temporary stand-in. Since it’s a long dress, it won’t really be noticable underneath.

I don’t think chucks would work for the dance… they will catch and squeak on the floor.
Unless you sand down the soles or something.

I actually just checked a pair of mine, and they are apparently now making them with cloth bottoms in certain parts of the sole.  Mine are worn and I just slid them along my hardwood floor and they didn’t seem to grip as much as a full rubber sole would.

@AndysCraftsNmore:  if you’re concerned they’ll constrict your ankle movement (my high top chucks do) maybe the low top ones!

Also dance people online suggest Dr. Scholls moleskin thin sticky backed padding from the drug store.
