my bf and i are both catholics grew up and went to catholic schools since 1st grade. we met while back home while we were still studying overseas. fast forward to 5 years later, we're planning on getting married in LA in about a year, but we'll wait til we get his fiance visa so he will be get here to US faster. question is church vs non church wedding. most churches require seminar to couples but he wont be here til we get his visa. requirements is to get married within 90 days after entering US. i know LA churches require at least 6 months of wedding preps. also it budget is also an issue. help pls

I think most Catholic Churches allow for your fiance to get his pre marriage counselling where ever he is and you can get yours in LA. My bestie's fiance is in Canada and that's what they are doing. My brother's fiance is in Africa and that's what they are doing too. Ask your Priest. Good luck.

What if y'all Skye'd/ webcamed the marriage counselling? I would talk with your priest and see how willing they are to accomodate your situation. I personally don't see why over the internet should be an issue, other then time zones:) Good luck!!!

I would talk to your priest. They may have a way for him to get his counseling where he is now, as others have suggested. Or you may get permission for a quick civil wedding for immigration purposes, followed by a larger Catholic celebration later.
