Hmmm..
To me, the color of the church wouldn't really dictate the scheme of my bridal party. I think anything that you choose will work out just fine. I actually like the red carpet. It adds a lot more drama!!
What were you originally thinking of using?
I originally really wanted the purple/green colors. Like this:
I just feel like this might clash with the carpet....
OMG that's a gorgeous bouquet! What will the bm's be wearing? Green or purple?
I just noticed your wedding date. If you're looking for a wintery, kind of a holiday look, then the red carpet would fit in quite perfectly.
Here is just a color palate look with red, green, and purple. I know red probably isn't in your initial palate, but at least it will give you a good idea if all of them together will compliment each other, which I think they do

I grew up in a church with this color carpet! :) Creams, dark blues, even some shades of purple might work. Go to a home store (like Lowe's), get a bunch of paint chips and try a few to see what it looks like with different colors. I'd stay away from greens--might look Christmas-y (unless you want it to).
1. I'm not sure what colors the bridesmaids would be wearing... I"m still really just getting ideas in my head at this point since I'm waiting :) They would be fine with purple or green.
2. The date on my profile is really not right at all, I should probably change that. I just picked a date since I had to. It'll most likely be fall of 2011. I'm going to go change that :)
3. I like the color pallete above, dark purple might still work out, green definitely seems bad with the carpet though. It's just hard for me to imagine something because I really really wanted a POP of bright color, and I can't think of one.
What do you guys think of a cobalt or navy blue?
Any other ideas ladies?
Cobalt and Gray (or gunmetal) are a great pick or for a brighter blue possibly a marine (I think that's a DB BM dress color option) or a sapphire? Definitely stay away from green!

I just picked the dresses for my bridesmaids and changed the colors...the fist is "Charcoal" and the second is "Cobalt" both are Alfred Angelo...silly me thought Cobalt was a darker blue...*doh*
@Anchors- The first two pictures you posted are totally what I was thinking. I like the thought of Gray also! I just needed reassurance ;)
The carpet in my church is red as well. I never even really thought about my wedding colours matching it. My bridemaid will be wearing berry and same with the groom and groomsmen's ties. I will have some kissing balls on some of the pews that will mostly be a fushia/berry colour with some green foilage mixed in. My reception will be where the colours really tie in.
That is about the same color as the carpet in my church and the fabric on all the pews. I'm not decorating the church, since it is beautiful already, so the only considerations were dress colors and flowers. I'm going with teal-ish BM dresses and mainly ivory flowers. The mothers are wearing a deep purple and navy. The only thing you need to be careful about is if you pick red dresses.
My church has the same colour of carpet! lol.We are doing browns. I didn't really take it into consideration a whole lot when picking but I definatly didn't want it to clash.
I don't think your original idea would look bad at all. I love the purple and green. We are doing lime green and white for flowers.

I'm a waiting bee. Right now we are bouncing around lots of different ideas for the venues. So my question is...
if you have a church with dark red carpet, what kind of colors can you use for the wedding party/decor?
I have only been two three weddings at the church. One was my brothers and it was like twenty people, no theme, colors or bridal party even. The other was a black and white wedding, and the third I can't remember.
I'm going to try to attach pictures of the carpet. Don't laugh, I cropped them from the Black and White wedding I went to, just so you can see the carpet but not the people :)
