I am not doing one, but I would think that this would be best after dinner. Maybe you could have it directly outside of the barn or next to the doors leading outside.
Thanks! That might work - there is an area right outside the barn that would be nice. Maybe I can set up some hay bales and make it lounge-y.
We are doing one as well. It will be open after dinner and there will be ports and sherrys available at the barn.
We had a cigar "table." Made a little sign, and displayed the cigars in a silver platter that we found at Homegoods for like 6 bucks. It was definitely a reception thing, after the first dances and speeches. The guys headed out to the patio attached to our reception room and our photog got great old school pictures of the guys with their cigars and all the smoke. It was a really cool thing. Even some of the ladies participated (although, I did not).
We ordered the cigars online and had them shipped to our venue two days before. I think the total cost of the project (signage and platter included) was just under $50, so it was well worth it. We only ordered about 30 cigars, though, because we had 75 guests and didn't feel it was necesaray to get one for everyone. We had about three leftover.
@Miss Chapstick - Thats an awesome price! Do you mind sharing where you ordered them from? We're expecting about 150 guests so I will probably need double the amount.
MissDarling I highly recommend a "cigar bar" for your reception. We had actual cigar rollers and it was a great success. I can't tell you how much it cost because it was a gift for us from our Best Man and his wife (the MOH). I never inquired as to the price although I am still to this day curious. They ordered about 75 cigars (we too had about 150 guests).
As Miss Chapstick stated above, ours too was just a table. There was the main "roller" and she had an assistant. They showed up at the same time as our cake cutting was to commence.
What was really cool were the personalized bands that go around the cigar. They had our initials and the date on them.
One thing I would definitely do is make sure your venue will allow for the smoking.
The company our friends went through is linked below. I realize you're on the other coast but you can at least get a quote. Good luck and congrats!!!
@Halloween - that looks like so much fun! I didn't even think about the great photos we could get. Thanks for the link. I'm going to check it out now...
LOVE the idea. Sorry, I don't have pictures. But I love, love, love the idea!!!
MissDarling great news! If you click on the link below and look there on the right hand side of the site this company does have cigar rollers in your area. WOOT!!!
Awesome! Thanks so much for the links! I'm getting pumped about this now.
@chapstick....awesome awesome price!
@MissDarling I kinda of want to do this now as a suprise for my future hubs!!! I am going to call tomorrow and find out if my reception site allows this! How cool...not sure we want to budget/can afford the site @halloween used...but I can get some nice custom cigars, a silver tray and a table ;)
Our gents would love that. Not in the budget, but how swanky to be able to offer one! I hope it goes over fabulously.
Im not having one nor have I seen one yet but Im going to a wedding in March in Colombia (south america) and they will have a cigar roller SO once I go and see it I will definitely re-post to tell you how it was! I think it is an awesome idea!!
I think it would be cool. We were actually going to have one until the smoking laws in Ohio changed. Our Club actually has a cigar room that we were going to use too - bummer. But I think it would be really cool.
@Miss Chapstick:Could you please tell me where you ordered them online. Thank you
It would be cool if it were far away or in a closed off room from the reception. Cigar smoke stinks and makes me ill. ^_^

Hey ladies...as of tonight I am seriously considering having a cigar bar for the reception. Has anyone else done this? When did you do it - cocktail hour? After dinner?
The cocktail hour will be held outside near a pond and a gazebo and the dinner/dancing will be inside in a barn. Any recommendations for where to set it up if I decide to do it?
Also -please post pics if you have them I'd LOVE to see what some of you have done!
