We're having a problem deciding if we want circular or rectangular reception tables.  We're now even thinking of using both kinds of shape, but we're worried that the over-all effect would look frivolous and not streamlined.  Below is how our ballroom is going to look like.  This is a stock photo from the hotel website.  The hotel uses circular tables for wedding.

Has anybody done a mix of circular/rectangular tables?  We would love to see pictures.  How was the effect of it?

Our hotel can provide rectangular tables with dimensions 6 feet x 3 feet.  Their circular tables have a diameter of 6 feet.  The rectangular table will probably fit 8 people (with no one sitting on the shorter ends of the table) while the circular table will fit 10.

Thanks in advance for any input/ideas/suggestions/comments.

This is my issue as well.  I prefer round table.  I think rectangle tables will have to be dressed up alot which I don't have a problem with because to me it's like a lunchroom feel.  I would also like to see some pics with both round and rectangle tables

I prefer round..  (as a casual wedding photog I dislike taking pics with rectangle tables...  you get pics of just the guests at each ends of the tables... its difficult to get pics of the middle areas because you are always getting someones backside!)

At weddings I've attending I have prefered round as well...  I've been stuck long rows of tables smoshed in and have problems getting out! Also it is easier to socialize with round tables...

Round tables are better for conversations. Also, they are much easier to get in and out of than long tables are.

I prefer round tables cause I think they save space and are better for conversation, but we're thinking about mixed round and square (fit 12 ppl) cause we have large families who'd like to sit together.
