I just did a post on this. Here's the link on my experience for getting a marriage license at the NYC Marriage Bureau. You will need to wait 24 hours to get married after receiving the license. Also if you are divorced, make sure to bring your divorce decree with you when applying for the license.

hi, we are in engaland and comeing to nyc next yr, we wanna get married in city hall, any info would be apreciated, ie can u do the whole thing in one day, where can we get outfits reasonably priced and also somewhere to go for a meal afterwards nothing flashy jus nice and fun, also we would be on our own so do u think it would be easy to find a couple of witnesses, in the films they jus pull em in off the street lol thanks so uch for any info btw we both divorced does that make it harder??
