So my fiance and I have been together almost 5 years and engaged for almost a year. We dont have all the money in the world right now so we have decided that because we want to be married that we are going to do just a simple court house wedding now and in a few years have a big vow renewal type of wedding. I was just wondering what the heck do I wear. I dont want to wear a huge gown but I still want to go with something wedding like and maybe white. Any suggestions? I am a plus sized woman also. And what about my groom to be what does he wear.

You can really wear whatever you want. I have seen pictures of courthouse brides wearing a full gown, but if that isn’t your thing, maybe just a pretty dress (white or other color)? Ditto on your FI; he can go as casual or formal as he wants. 🙂

We got married at the courthouse and I would have worn my green dress if we hadn’t planned the reception for the next day. You can go as formal or casual as you want! Darling Husband wore a black suit with a tie.

I did the same thing. Our bigger wedding celebration/vow renewal is in two weeks. I wore a blush pink tea length gown. I’d always wanted to wear a pink wedding dress! lol. Now I get the best of both worlds. Good luck to you!

Thanks ladies. Its nice to see others doing the same thing.
My sister who just got married over the weekend doesnt understand why we want to have two weddings. She says that if we want the big one why not just wait and that we are doing it for the gifts. When the whole time she had a wedding party or shower all I heard from her was I got this and I got that. I actually didnt ever think of registering anywhere because for us its more of a big party for everyone to celebrate with us and we will not be having a gift table at the wedding since that is not the reason for our larger wedding. She thinks its sending a confusing message to people because they wont know our real wedding date.
