As a wedding officiant I have performed many weddings that are secular for the wording and have incorporated religious traditions. I find this to be very acceptable, it is your ceremony. As long as you do not hold the ceremony in a house of worship then you should be able to have the ceremony with any traditions you desire. I am sure that you will find that many nondenominational or non-religious wedding officiants will have no problem helping you to create a ceremony that incorporates these components.

My fiance is Jewish and I was raised not religious. We want to get married on our 8th dating anniversary (we got engaged on the 7th dating anniversary). It is a saturday which is good, but we want to get married in the afternoon to help keep the cost down. This means we can't have a traditional Jewish wedding because it is the sabath and it is the first night of Hanukkah. Have any of you other bees brought in an Jewish traditions to an otherwise non-religious/civil ceremony? We were thinking about having a Chupah and breaking the glass. Is that okay? Are there any other traditions you would recommend incorporating to personalize the ceremony?
