I have been an avid reader of the WeddingBee boards for quite a while, and I wanted to share my experience of buying a replica dress online as I know that there of lots of brides-to-be who try this.
I simply didn’t have the budget to afford the couture gowns that I liked. I have been obsessed with Claire Pettibone dresses forever and I was desperate to have one, but they are way out of my price range. Before I thought about approaching a seller to make a replica, I tried to buy dresses from both Lightinthebox and TheCelebrityDresses and they were both dreadful! Lightinthebox gave me my money back but the other one still won’t 🙁
Anyway, I decided to look on Etsy and I emailed a few sellers. I eventually decided to go with a store called Amazingbridalscom and spoke to a lady called Jasmine. I asked if she could make a dress similar to ‘Lumiere’ by Claire Pettibone, but in pink instead of blue.
She immediately told me that an exact replica wouldn’t be possible as they didn’t have the exact lace, but that she was sure she could make something beautiful. She was really quick at replying to me and checked lots of details and measurements to make sure they were right. The dress took about 7 weeks to get to me and all in all it cost about $250 with postage. So here are pics of my dress…I know that its not a copy, but I am so happy with it!
Its hard to see in the pics but it is encrusted with beads and sequins and it is really sparkley when I walk. After my previous experiences, I had really low expectations when this parcel arrived….but I was so shocked to open it up and see something so pretty!
Well, I just thought it would be helpful to share my dress experience with anyone thinking of ordering online…and if I can save anyone from making the mistakes that I did with the other two places, then it might be worth it!
