It is probably from the Clarisonic brush. Overuse of the brush can dry out your skin causing your skin to overproduce the natural oils which may lead to more breakouts. I would suggest using the brush less often for example if you are using it every other day use it every two days and see if that helps.
Thank you! Right now I use it 2x a day, so I will try cutting back to every other day and see if it helps!
i have had the clarisonic brush pro for almost a year and a half now and it has done absolute wonders for my skin. i did notice the first few months of use that, while it made my skin soft & glow, i did have some surface blemishes. i chalked it up to the brush bringing all the stuff lying underneath my skin to the surface. my skin cleared up in about a month and i have been almost completely blemish free since!
i would make sure you are using the correct brush head for your skin type -- are you using the normal or sensitive brush? it could be that the current brush head you are using is too harsh.
also, make sure you are using a gentle cleanser. i like purpose. if the cleanser you are using with the clarisonic is too drying, it could cause your skin to create more oil, which could cause the blemishes.
my routine with the clarisonic is using it every other night with purpose face wash and then following up with Peter Thomas Roth's AHA BHA serum, and oil-free moisturizer. i find the clarisonic also works really well in the shower, too!
@hsearle, thanks for your response! My brush only came with one head - I wonder if I'm supposed to buy the sensitive skin one separately? I'll also try using a more gentle soap with it, as well as only every other day. Fingers crossed!
I'm so nervous now- I JUST ordered the Clairsonic, and it's being shipped to my house this week. I heard such wonderful things about it- which is why I spent that kind of money and ordered it. I do NOT want breakouts- I finally just got my skin under control after a lengthy bad breakout period. Oh no. :(
Anytime you do anything new to your skin you should always go the gentle route just to be safe. I have sensitive skin so for me I know there's a "break in" period. Try once a day every other day for a week then bump it up to once a day every day for another week then bump it up to the twice a day usage. That's usually the best way to give your skin a break in between. Depending on your skins sensitivity you may need to start off using it only once a week or twice a week then go from there. Good luck!
I heard from my facialist that when you start opening up pores like that you are more likely to break out because more dirt gets in the pores and you are bringing stuff to the surface. I would try to push through the breakouts for now.
It gives me the worst, most painful acne ever. I'm pretty sure the only reason I'm still using it is because I'm stubborn and I don't want the money I spent to be a waste. I keep hoping that it's just an "adjustment" period...but it's been about 5 months now. I even have the sensitive head and have played around with how often I use it, but nothing seems to help. If I use it, I break out. I don't normally have sensitive, troublesome skin. :(
On the plus side, it does make my non-broken out skin look nice. As of yet, totally not worth the tradeoff though.
@hamster -- i think they usually send you the "normal" brush head when you order it. i would try the "sensitive" or "delicate" brush head and see if that makes a difference. the clarisonic website sometimes offers spceial discounts or free shipping, and i've also found great deals on the brush heads on amazon.com. good luck!
I got one for Christmas and I love it. My skin has never looked better! I started out using it 2x a day, but I cut back to just once and that seems to be working a little better. My skin isn't getting as dry. Basically I use it in the am followed by moisturizer. Then at night I wash with something more gentle.
I have been using the clarisonic for the last four evenings and my skin is very soft and ilooks healthier ever since. I myself have struggled with mild acne and my skin right now never looked better. However, i did notice a few pimples on my chin tonight. I just figured it was clearing out my blocked pores. Ill definately keep you posted! Fingers crossed it doesnt cause breakouts!
I've been using the clarisonic daily for about a year now! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it =) The other thing to be mindful of is to clean the brush head at least once per week with antimicrobial soap and let air dry. After use, I turn it on and let it run while it's sitting on the counter through 1 cycle so that it dries the brush a bit. Otherwise, you are putting the plastic cap back on and the bristles are soaking wet.

Hello, Hive!
So I purchased the Clarisonic Pro Facebrush 2 months ago, and I love it! It seems to do wonders for skin texture. However, when 2 weeks after I first starting using it, I broke out. Now here's the issue - I'm not sure if that was because of the brush or less sleep, more stress, the weather, etc.
I stopped using it for a while, then started up again last week. Today I woke up with another breakout! Once again, not sure if it's because of the Clarisonic, but if it is, I'd be totally bummed.
So what I'm trying to figure out is, are my breakouts related to the Clarisonic brush?
Thanks! :)
