This was posted in a thread on classic rock first dance songs — “Thank You” by Led Zeppelin is a good one. So is “Sweet Child o Mine” by G&R.

We did “You Got It” by Roy Orbison.  My dad told me to pick the song and I wanted to find something he would like rather than pick something super cheesy.  So I spent a day thinking about his favorite bands/artists and trying to find a song that fit without having too many lyrics that would be gross if applied to father-daughter rather than people dating haha.  It wasn’t the easiest to dance to, but it was fun and the venue coordinator said it was the best father-daughter song choice she’d come across 🙂

sahanarajana:  I’m getting so old. GnR is not classic rock to me, lol. That is an awesome song though!

Is Aerosmith classic rock? I love the song “Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing.”

It’s not really an old song but I almost went with Neil Young “Here for You”.  Neil is classic at least.

I considered several Rolling Stones songs: “She’s a Rainbow,” “Wild Horses”, and their cover of “That’s How Strong My Love Is.” Also thought about Queen (“You’re My Best Friend”) and the Beatles (sooo many options, from “Day in the Life” to “I will” to “Woman”). I don’t know if you consider them classic rock! I ended up going with “To Sir with Love” by Lulu.
