This post will probably get long ... but here goes..
My Fiance and I listen to country music when we are together (he does rock and I do pop/rap when by ourselves)... so the majority of the songs we'll have at our wedding will probably fall under the country category...
so my top picks for Father-Daughter songs were:
1. Ready, Set, Dont Go - Miley &BRay Cyrus
2. Then They Do - Trace Adkins
3. There goes my life - Kenny Chesney
but then I started thinking about what my father might want... since he is a classic Rock / Rock music kinda guy... And that is mainly what I listened to growing up so I have a lot of memories of my father & his music...
Any who... I was trying to find a classic rock song that is slow enough to dance to and has semi-appropriate lyrics... but I totally struck out!
I thought maybe we could dance to instrumental or karoke versions of
Sailing - Christopher Cross or
Silent Lucidity - Queensryche
mostly because I feel like people would be trying to find the 'meaning' behind the lyrics and there really wouldnt be one...
This week for work I ended up on a 'road-trip' by myself from Dallas Fort Worth to San Antonio (like a 4+ hour drive) ... and since it was such a long drive through back roads i was constantly flipping stations and stumbled upon the PERFECT song for us...
Nothing Else Matters by Metallica
This was a EPIC *facepalm* moment for me... This was a hugely important and meaningful song for my dad and I when I was growing up... and to add insult to injury he actually has 1 tattoo... only one... its an arm band with ours names (me, sister, mom & dad) and "Nothing Else Matters" written below it in Norse Lettering and rope-like detailing.... I know that interpreting lyrics varies from person to person, but i already know my dad associates this song with family...
Now I just have to decide if it will be a suprise or if I should see what songs he is thinking of, or just flat out make my suggestion...
okay bees... any other good rock songs for the F/D Dance?
P.s. Does anyone else have problems listening to potential F/D dance songs and just turning into a bawling little baby ... cuz I just cant help myself :(
