I know there have been a few posts recently about what song everyone is doing their Father/Daughter dance to.  But I just can't find anything that resonates with me.

My dad is a classic rock guy who loves Bob Dylan, Led Zepplin, Little Feat . . . basically anything 60s/70s.  Anyone have a good recommendation for a classic rock song that would be appropriate for a Father/Daughter dance?

I've sifted through similiar posts and have gotten this list of options together so far:

Stand by Me - John Lennon

In My Father's Eyes - Eric Clapton

    In My Life - Beatles

Father and Daughter - Simon and Garfunkel

You Got It - Roy Orbinson

    Tupelo Honey - Van Morrison

Secret of Life - James Taylor

Love and Happiness - Emmylou Harris & Mark Knopfler

@jennybirdy - Thanks for the recommendation!  Not sure whether the song is good for dancing!

PS - I know Emmylou Harris isn't classic rock :-)  We also dig old school folky country music too!

I'm partial to Clapton myself, so I would say "Father's Eyes" too - people also know that song but won't expect it, a very cool surprise. :)

A friend let me borrow a "the knot" book that has a chapter on dance songs.  They're all in the category of "First Dance" but maybe some of these might work:

    And I love her- Beatles

    Babe-Styx

Best of my love- the Eagles

Ill have to say i love you in a song- Jim Croce

time in a bottle- Jim Croce

    You're my best friend-  Queen

Baby i love your way- peter frampton

    beautiful girl - inxs

have i told you lately that i love you- van morrison

    i will- beatles

I haven't listened to them, but maybe they could work...

The song that I'm going to use which is from the same era (1979) is Harry Chapin's "Tangled up Puppet."  It is a beautiful song which I've loved for a long time (my mom is a big Chapin fan).  It is the song he wrote for his daughter.  It's a pity it never had the same popularity as "Cat's Cradle" because I think it is so much more beautiful.
