How big is the center stone on your ering? I'm not sure if it would be too big, but you wouldn't want it to distract from your engagement ring (if you plan on wearing them together, that is).
The centre stone of my engagement ring is 1.25 carats (with 0.12 carat baguettes).
@SpecialSundae: personally i think its too much. i would have a pendant made with the other stone if you wanted to do something special with it.
@MASPA: Do you think it would be okay with 5 stones?
I think that all depends on what your ring size is, and the size of your center stone. For a 1.25 ct stone, I think it would be disproportionate.
Here's a video of a 5-stone wedding band with .25 ct stones, and later you can see it with an e-ring that has a 2.5 ct stone, which I think it looks nice with. I want to say the ring is like a size 6.
@littlemissmango: It looks about the same size as the wishbone ring I tried on recently.
@SpecialSundae: i just re read what you wrote. you never mentioned whether you would wear your ering. if not, it will be fine. but with it yes, its too much. and a 5 stone would definitely be less overbearing with your pretty sparkley.
@MASPA: I would, but I don't think I'd wear the eternity ring all the time. Probably just for going out. And I might wear the eternity ring alone or the eternity and engagement ring together without the wedding ring.
I used my mum's ring and photoshop to do a mock-up of how it would look with a five stone slightly graduated wishbone half-eternity ring. It would almost definitely be an occasional ring rather than an everyday ring (unless I was expecting to see people I disliked).
What do you think?

@SpecialSundae: you have good photoshop skills! I wouldn't like it as an everyday ring. But the occassional idea works.
@MASPA: My fiance helped. :-D I really like how it looks!
I was at synagogue last night and there were some enormous eternity rings kicking about!
I really like the look of the wedding band with your ring in your photoshop pic :)

Okay, I know I'm not married yet but I've been looking at eternity rings. My fiance didn't buy either my engagement or wedding rings and I've always told him I'd like an eternity ring.
I've been thinking over the past few days that it would be lovely to have my mum's quarter carat engagement ring set as part of my eternity ring.
Do you think seven quarter carat stones in a sort of wishbone shape would be too big? Should I only have five?
I was thinking something like this:
