I clean as I cook! And I hate it that my FI doesn't. He's not very good at mult-tasking though...even though he would never admit it :)
I do both - I try to clean as I cook as much as I can but once everything is plated, I dont clean until the end (the pan, serving spoon, etc).
haha, i always thought i did a good job cleaning as i cook. but apparently my FI doesnt agree. he always says "if you pick it up as you cook you wont have to do it later". but i am the one cooking! thats one of the few things that annoy him i guess. he is actually very easy going.
I clean as I go. There is a feeling of accomplishment I feel when things are just finishing the cooking process and I am just waiting in a clean kitchen ready to just eat. Plus, I just married a chef. He is a stickler for cleanliness. Hahahaha.
I am definitely a clean as I go person! I just can't handle the overwhelming mess at the end and I need a clean kitchen to to think straight! I get lots of help with the cleaning and prep from FI.
Oh, I definitely clean as I go. Like D'Orsay, I do NOT want to clean up everything at the end. It's just much easier. There is a lot of waiting time with cooking, so it's easy to wash a little as you go.
I'm a total clean as I cook, but we're both guilty of leaving the pans to "soak" for several days. Eep. But FI has taken to putting the dish drainer in one side of the sink, so it forces us to do dishes more often, since we only have one sink to stack in!
I definitely clean as a go. The deal is though that The Guy does the dishes when I cook. I try to keep things tidy as I go to make it easier for him though :)
I grew up being the dishwasher in my household... so my mom would leave this disaster of a mess when she cooked and I'd clean it up after the meal.
When Mr. Peng and I moved in together, he became the dishwasher because I was the cook. After about 3 months he finally told me that I was the biggest disaster of a cook he ever saw and was surprised I'd never learned of cleaning while I cooked like his mom did. I started doing it, mostly because it freed up more room in the kitchen, and because cooking in a clean kitchen is a little more zen, but I am still a little resentful that he basically told me to do HIS job for him :) But I def. think it makes me happier to be cooking in a cleaner kitchen, esp cause our counter space is soooo limited!
To even it out, I make Mr. Peng do all the dishes that I make dirty during the day when he gets home (I work at home and rarely get takeout lunch... usually just warm up some soup or something). So he is like my janitor after he comes home from work. Take that!!!!
lol pengy.
i clean as i cook. my mom does it and i picked it up from her. makes it easier especially since we don't have a lot of counterspace so if i need more room i have to clean anyway.
I clean as I go for the most part. Mr. Lovebird hasn't cooked since 2004.
It drives me crazy to clean at the end ! The FH is getting better at it.
for me it depends. if i am baking that i clean as i am going with the baking because between batches i wash dishes and what not. but when im cooking i always wait till the end to clean since i hate stopping in the middle of cooking to clean. i usually even leave all the dishes to the very end after i have finished cooking.
when i was still in college and lived with roommates, me and 1 of my roommate had the perfect game plan going when it came to cooking and cleaning. i would do all the cooking while she did all the cleaning. it made me laugh but at the end of the year of us living together since we were moving back to our respective hometowns, her mom thanked me for feeding her daughter. because whenever i cooked, my roommate didnt have to go out and buy takeout or eat frozen meals.
Mr. Snow lets the kitchen explode. I clean as I go. Usually, I "assist" him when he cooks by cleaning the entire time.
I have no choice but to clean as I go :) my kitchen has just under 2 square feet of counter space! And a bookshelf instead of cupboards, hehe. :) As soon as anything is simmering/in the oven/needs a few minutes to sit, I've got sudsy water in the sink and am power washing whatever I can get my hands on, or else prepping and chopping for the next step. Gotta make good use of the time!
When my mom was teaching me to cook way back in the day, she always taught me that the first ingredient when cooking is clean dishwater. So before I start cooking, I run a sink full of hot, soapy dishwater and cook as I go. That way..after we eat..all that's left is the dishes...and the cook doesn't wash dishes...LOL
I pile as I go.
lol I don't clean dishes while I cook (I do obsessively wipe the counters though)... I pile everything in my sink. My kitchen sink is so deep it hides all my dirty dishes. :) After the meal I hose it off & put it in the dishwasher.
i let the kitchen explode, and then i go take a nap. hey ... i cooked, someone else clean. ;)
I am the absolute WORST. I put it all off and then don't clean it til the next day. It makes Mr. KM INSANE!
I was totally thinking about this as I was cooking tonight lol
I ended up putting all the dishes in the dishwasher and now my kitchen is clean!...like nothing ever happened lol. Im so proud of myself hehe
I clean as i cook...and Teddy cleans the rest at the end since he doesnt clean as he cooks ;) so we end up doing about half and half of the dishes...but i think i win because i get to sit there with a glass of wine watching him clean and enjoying the feeling of being full!
I voted other because I don't cook... my FH cooks and I clean. So I guess I can say that I clean at the end!
I try to clean as I cook, but as my FI usually does the washing up there aren't huge penalties for me if I don't....
If I clean as I go I get distracted- I have to do it at the end.
Haha, I don't really cook. And when I do, I usually leave a huge mess. I'm not very "domestic."
I tried the "cleaning as I go" method this morning.. it SO didn't work!
I always clean as a go when I bake or cook. It makes the mess a lot easier to handle. The Hubs, however, likes to clean up all at the end, or not at all. ;)
If I'm baking, which is something that I don't do often, I'm like Pengy that I can be a disaster. I will only clean at the end.
Since I'm the primary cook in the house though, I do clean as I go during normal cooking stuff.
Clean as you go! Also, have a great sous-chef that will also help you clean up. It makes it all so much easier in the end!

Mr.D likes to cleanup at the end of cooking/dinner and I perfer to clean as I go. Once the meal is over, the last thing I want to do is clean! Do you clean as you cook or clean at the end?
