I just got my first dishwasher and picked up some Cascade lemon scent detergent. I had gotten pretty much all fiestaware for our wedding. Darling Husband was looking at the care instructions for the 5 piece serving set we got and it says not to use any detergent containing lemon and to use detergent that does not contain chlorine, both of which the detergent apparently has. Anyone have any experience with this? Do you just use run of the mill detergent to clean or do you get special detergent? I assume that pretty much all of the dishwasher detergent in the stores has chlorine in it. Should I be looking for “green” dishwasher detergent? Getting detergent without lemon scent? Or should I just use what I have?

There is old fiestaware and new fiestaware. The old stuff is antique and NOT dishwasher safe. The new replica kind (anything produced in the past decade or so) should be microwave and dishwasher safe. I don’t know what directions you have, but the fiestaware website says that it is dishwasher safe: http://www.fiestafactorydirect.com/t-faqusecare.aspx but doesn’t mention anything about the type of soap.

@Cem0930: I think you’ll be ok using regular detergent as long as it doesn’t say lemon or bleach on the package. Not all of them contain chlorine.

@Cem0930: We put our fiestaware in the dishwasher and have never had any problems. We also microwave things on them without any issues.
