I was wondering if any of you have a cleaning lady (or man as to not be sexist) and how it works out for you.
FI and I work full time and get super busy super fast. It’s the norm for us to have something on our calanders every night of the week. While we can usually keep our place pretty clean, we just don’t have the time to give it the deep clean scrub down it needs sometimes. Ie the baseboards, oven, dusting our twenty foot ceilings etc. and I swear it makes my allergies worse in the winter (and eww).
So I’m wondering how it works for you ladies who utilize a service. Do they come weekly/monthly? What do you have them do? Is it worth it? And if anyone could share with me the ballpark cost of how much yours cost I would greatly appreciate it so I have something to compare to when I start my search.

BWLE: We do! It’s freaking awesome. She comes every 2 weeks and stays for about 2 hours in our little 850 sq ft house. She just does the basic cleaning that neither of us is motivated enough to do… wiping down surfaces / cabinets / floorboards, sweeping, mopping, shaking out the rugs, vacuuming the couches, cleaning the bathroom. She comes during the day when we’re at work, and she uses our cleaning stuff rather than bringing her own. She was recommended to me by a friend and just works independently on her own. All the local services I looked into charge about $30/hr, but she charges $12/hr! So so worth it.

I’m considering this as well. Growing up, we had a mother/daughter pair come in about once a month to clean the entire home. They were great, but before them, we had used other cleaners and my mom had her jewelry stolen.
I’ve been asking our neighbors for recommendations and more info because (1) don’t have to worry as much about trustworthiness (2) the cleaning crew may charge less given that they’re cleaning several homes/apartments in the area on a given day.
Friends of mine have starting using Homejoy (https://www.homejoy.com/) and have really liked it.

Yep! We work full time and make good money, so it’s totally worth it. We have a lady who comes with 1-2 other women. They’re here for about 2 hours and we pay $70 total. I consider that a smokin deal!

Absolutely worth it. Boyf and I both work long hours, and we’re clean enough on our own, but neither of us have several hours a week to devote to heavy cleaning. I love coming home to a freshly cleaned house. The amount of stress it takes away is so, so worth the cost. We pay $120 for one cleaning a month (we live in a big city, so this is probably on the higher side). I would pay twice that, honestly.

Thanks ladies! From the sounds of it most of your ladies do the basic cleaning as well, which I totally wouldn’t hate having done for me. I didn’t know if they charged more for hourly or what they do while there. I appreciate the advice, it sounds so worth it.
