Argh!! I just need to vent. So I went off BCP last month. I figured my cycle might be wonky but figured I could get an idea of what was going on using the test. I have had high fertility (flashing smiley) since CD9 and it’s now CD 15. I bought a second kit partly because I ran out of sticks and partly because I am starting to be skeptical. I tested with both monitors today, same urine, one says low fertility (clear circle) the original testing holder is flashing smiley face still.
Now I don’t know if the old one or the new one is broken! Grrr.

Open it up and look at the sticks. You’ll see if the test line is different than the control. Also that particular test measures your hormones in comparison to previous tests. So if you had super low when you started with the first and then got higher this past week, it would read increased fertility (though not neccessarily your highest). The second test is just taking a measurement as a baseline and thus it’s saying no because your hormone values are not high enough. So technically it is possible that neither is broken. That’s why I don’t much like that particular test and prefer just using ovulation predictor test strips. Good luck and I hope you can read the results manually!

irishphoenix: You could buy LH (ovulation) strips from Amazon for example that tell you when you are close to ovulating at a lot cheaper price. I would highly suggest to use them especially since you might end up wasting tons of test strips for no good reason. Take a look at this link, not bad for the price. I usally order these.

irishphoenix: yeah you can’t start the digital ones mid cycle. They read your baseline and then give you a smiley when you’re far enough above it which is why the second test didn’t give you one. But idk why the first one gave you a smiley for so long. I second PPs in suggesting the strips. You can test anytime with those and your “smiley” is just whenever your test line is darker than the control. But you can see when you’re getting close too so you get a bigger window.
