I'm not sure what the style of your invitation is, but white labels with a border might look nice. Miss Sushi had a blog entry on it with a picture here: wedding-invitation-labels
I'm a fan of white, like trinny said there are some pre-printed bordered ones out there that would look cute!
Clear labels worked well for us. They don't work well on shiney paper though - you can really see the label.
