celticbride:  If I can remember right (questionable), don’t the box instructions say not using FMU could create false results?  I’ve not tried because of that.  What I do is buy wondfos to keep in the cabinet.  Once I’m cooking up smileys on the advanced OPK, I start supplementing wondfos so I can catch my surge by doing afternoon (and doubling up with the advanced OPK in the AM) tests.  They were super cheap so I don’t mind double testing.

celticbride:  Yeah that stinks because now you can’t use it to confirm.  I wouldn’t worry too much about missing your surge next time— assuming you’re starting to BD as soon as you get the flashing smiley, your timing should be fine.  Confirming the surge still doesn’t confirm ovulation timing so catching it real time doesn’t really mean that much.  Plus, I personally never had a month where I didn’t get a solid smiley after flashing so I think the advanced OPK is able to catch the surge predictively??  I would keep using cheapies just to confirm when the surge does happen at this point. I see many people on here that use them 4x a day so I’m not sure it’s as strict with timing as the advanced opk.  Good luck and happy bd!!

celticbride:  I used this OPK for the first time the cycle I got pregnant.  I had been using wondfo’s and the CVS brand OPKs prior to that however and I always had my LH surge late morning around 10am. I took the CB advanced with FMU and got the blinking face that morning but going off of other fertility signs, I had a feeling I was going to surge that day. Sure enough, I took a second one at 10am and it was solid.  Had I used FMU I wouldn’t have caught the solid smiley. Sure enough I ovulated the next day, confirmed by a temp rise, and got a faint BFP 10 days later.

celticbride:  I would trust the positive (even though I actually had a false positive with the same test 3 times). The instructions say that once you get flashing smileys, you can test more than once a day if you suspect you have a short LH surge. The false results you may see are more towards the negative, because if the test doesn’t detect a significant change in your results since that morning, it may go back to open circle or stay flashing smiley. BD away girl!

This is my time using OPK’s, and this one in paticular.   I have a few questions…how many days after the solid smiley do you continue to BD?  I got a flashing one on Thursday and another one Friday AM.  I had a hunch and tested again Friday afternoon and got a solid smiley.  We have been BDing since Thursday (so Th, F, S and Sun)

Is it safe to say at this point that we’re in the clear and can take a little break? If so, this is my first TWW and I’m already over it.

Natinat6:  Once you get a solid I would BD once a day for 48 hours

Andthepupmakes3:  So it looks like we’re all set.  I guess we’re just waiting now…
