@Miss Biner:Hi, I'm looking at Cloudland canyon for my wedding also! My fiance and I are both hiking fanatics so it seems perfect. I know that the price per day to rent the group shelter is $130 (plus $5 per car that you can pay for everyone or ask them to cover themselves- we are setting up to just have them keep a running tally and we'll pay for everyone as we leave.) The group shelter can accomodate 175 people. I don't know about you but I'm planning to have about 80 people at my wedding and the park rangers I spoke with a couple weeks ago said that they cannot block anything on the overlook off specifically for a wedding but that if I wanted to set something up for the ceremony along the overlook the other park guests are usually courteous and won't disturb anything. My fiance and I are planning to have a short (20 minute) ceremony on the overlook then a BBQ type cookout at the group shelter. I would love to feed off any ideas you have. Also, you may have already done this not if you email the park they will send you a PDF that details their wedding regulations. Happy Planning:)
@LaNoviaKylie: Hey! I did end up going to look and see if this was the venue for us, but I was a little disappointed in the group shelter. The overlook was gorgeous, and I got the same information that you did. The group shelter itself was beautiful, but I didn't like how far away from the ceremony site it was. I was really looking for a venue that would allow for a seamless ceremony/reception, and the group shelter would have required driving. I was really hoping for the reception to be outside, and unfortunately I felt like the group shelter would keep us inside since the surrounding area wasn't as aethetically pleasing as the overlook was.
The other thing that really turned me off were those trailers that you had to drive through between the ceremony site and group shelter. I personally don't mind, but I know the older folks in my family would be talking. (rolling my eyes...I know....)
Sorry to sound like such a downer cause it was absolutely gorgeous, but it just wouldn't have given us the reception we were wanting. If I were having a smaller wedding, it would have been perfect.

So my idea of a perfect wedding would be under a cliff or on top of a lookout. My SO and I are rock climbers so being outside is a no brainer, but I've been struggling with coming up with a location that will be affordable, around the Cumberland Plateau, casual, but also have an option if it rains. I think I've found it with Cloudland Canyon State Park....and I'm not the first to have the idea. just look at this GORGEOUS wedding:

Has anyone else been to/seen pictures of a wedding here? If so, does anyone have info. about pricing and such? I'm super interested in going this route.
