I've been to my fair share of bridal showers recently and it really just isn't my scene. I don't mind going to them for other people, and they've been executed very well, but I'd rather have a get together with all of our friends and our entire wedding party together (not to mention that my male BFF is an attendant on my side). I mentioned doing something fun like having a bride's side vs. groom's side powderpuff football game and a backyard BBQ in lieu of a traditional shower to the FI and he was all about it. Then last night, he mentioned that his father said that co-ed showers are always dreadful for any guy that attends and that he doesn't think that we should do it. Is there a way to make this kind of party fun for every guest invited? Has anyone else had a successful co-ed shower, and how did you pull it off?

We're having a co-ed Stock the Bar shower. Everyone's REALLY pumped about it. I've also been to co-ed showers where they bring a gift for the guys and a gift for the girls...i.e. Kitchen stuff and Gadget shower. They can be pretty fun. I think the reason co-ed showers aren't really fun for guys is that a lot of times they are just like girls-only showers, except the women bring their SOs. You've got to know your audience if you're putting one of these on.

I have been to a shower where everyone was invited. The bride just had a get together at her house and it was a kind of bridesmaid, groomsmen mingle party. Yes, there was football there also. LOL

I think your idea of the powder puff football game is GREAT! The guys may not be so thrilled to be playing with a bunch of chicks but hey they can suck it up for one day. :)

Have a great a time and remember be true to yourself and stay original....

    Hope this helps.

We had a very successful co-ed shower.  I think co-ed showers are only "dreadful" for the guys if they are like traditional shower with all the shower games.

My hubby wasn't too keen on the co-ed shower at first but in the end he loved it, as did our guy friends.  It was pretty much just a backyard BBQ at my parents house with really yummy food, beer and gifts.

Oh and even my parents friends you know, older men who think showers are "women stuff" admitted that they had a good time!  Again, it was just a party with gifts!

Thanks ladies! You've inspired me to hold my ground and just make sure that it's a fun time for all.
