@sheepandbear:  I’m pretty sure the coach outlet sells the same quality items as the regular stores.  Either way, all coach bags come with a lifetime warranty.

All my coach purses are from the outlet and there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of them (that I can tell)! I don’t think I’d ever consider paying full price when I could find something equally as nice at an outlet.. just make sure to look it over well to ensure there are no scratches etc..

@sheepandbear:  Your MIL is correct.  The vast majority of merchandise available for sale in COACH Factory Outlet stores is designed and priced specifically FOR COACH Factory Outlets and is never sold in COACH retail stores or major department stores that carry the COACH brand.

However, SOMETIMES you can find COACH retail merchandise in specific locations in the outlet stores — retail merchandise that has been returned to an outlet or is sent from a retail store to the outlets. However, this is a very small percentage of the total merchandise found in the outlet stores.

Having said all of that, COACH Factory Outlet merchandise is still well made and worthy of the COACH brand, or COACH would not be willing to associate itself with the product.

@MissGeeBee:  Ditto!

I’ve always had great experiences at the outlet and have NO complaints whatsoever about the quality.

@sheepandbear:  From what I understand some bags are last years, but most are made for the outlet and are poorer quality. Yes, certain things fall under warranty, but normal wear and tear isn’t one of them. I personally don’t care for anything I’ve seen at the Coach outlet. I think Michael Kors outlet is closer to the good Michael Kors. I have a bag from their outlet. If you go to the Coach outlet and see something you like and it feels like it’s nicely made, then go for it.  Leather should feel thick and sturdy, I actually found one bag I could rub the “leather” around with my finger, it was obviously some kind of super flimsy leather.

You might try and ask the sales people there, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

I have bags from both the regular Coach store and the outlet, and I haven’t had any issues with either. Actually my favorite one is specifically made for the outlet.

@sheepandbear:  Ugh, good luck. I have such a hard time picking out a bag. 1) Because I’m picky and 2) Because I’m always worried about to blow $300 on a piece of crap. Our outlet mall has a Michael Kors outlet right next to the Coach outlet. I don’t know about man bags though, I wasn’t looking for them, lol. I would say, I can see small differences between “real” Coach and Michael Kors vs. the outlets, like the hardware, but who’s going to be inspection my bag? Nobody. My biggest beef it the stitching and the leather. Make sure to inspect the bag WELL before you buy it. In the Coach/MK stores they never sell you the bags that are on display, they get you a brand new one from the back. Outlets sell you whatever you have in your hand, so that’s what you’re getting. So just make sure to thoroughly check it out first.

@Brielle:  +1

The outlet bags are specifically made for the outlet. You can tell by the F in the serial number. Even so, they’re still good bags.

@sheepandbear:  The Coach outlet is the same quality as a normal Coach store – it’s generally just a season or two behind in the styles – which is why it’s cheaper.

@sheepandbear:  The quality is exactly the same. The only difference is outlet is typically old stock/seaon stuff. I buy mostly outlet items and they have held up a LOOOOONG time. This is just my experience.
