We’re having a tough time deciding our cockatil hour and reception bar options. Our venue offers everything on consumption, so that makes it easy…but I still want to try to keep costs down where we can (signature drinks, wine, and beer). Our signature drinks would be a champagne cocktail (bellini-esque), and a more manly bourbon/rum drink. I’m toying with the idea of only having signature drinks available during cocktail hour (plus iced tea and sodas), and then just beer and wine during the reception. Thoughts?

Just a signature drink would be fine. Make sure you have some snacks too.

That would be fine to me… but may be more expensive. Mixed drinks usually cost more than beer and wine.

I usually only drink champagne during the cocktail hour anyways so I’d be fine with it.

Fine with me, and that’s probably what we’ll do.

I think that would be fine. We had our two signature drinks and appetizers at our cocktail hour and I think it was successful. Your signature drinks sound delish!

@Cummins59: Thank you! We can’t wait to see what everyone thinks!

Sure, cocktail hour is when I kick the night off with a cocktail or champagne before moving onto wine later in the night.

That sounds completely good to me. Sounds like your guest will enjoy themselves.
