Pretty!  I've made crepe paper roses before and they turned out very similar, but they took FOREVER to make... probably too long for centerpieces.   They would definitely be do-able for bridal party flowers, though!

The crepe paper worked well because you could mold each petal into the correct shape, but I think the softness of the coffee filter makes them look more realistic.

So I saw this post and had to try these out...not too difficult and a beautiful result....I think it took around 5-10 min to put one together with improvised supplies. ( didn't have floral tape or water colors) so I used masking tape and icing dye mixed with a little water.  I was super excited by the result, it looked so pretty and realistic.  I can totally see myself using this technique for my DIY pieces.  Thanks MrsRoye09 for the wonderful idea.

i made one of these last night and turned out super-gorgeous! I used the martha stewart template & instructions...and, well, even though the end product looks good- i think i ran into some snafus- I didn't secure the petals enough on the floral wire, and, well, the flower ended up coming off the wire. lol. I'm sure with more practice it'll work out better.  The flower still looks great though! Thanks Mrs.Roye09 for the post!

I just made 2 dozen of these and I can't stop! The tutorial that is linked to above is pretty good, but for anyone considering making these-- here are some additional tips:

- the tutorial shows the petals with pointy tips, i made mine more rounded and they ended up more realistic. when i cut them pointy, the roses looked too spiky

- i used scotch tape to tape the petals to the wire because i couldn't get the floral tape to stick to the filters. the floral tape pretty much only sticks to itself, and i found scotch tape was a lot easier.

- the 22 g wire is pretty flimsy, so after i was done with each rose head i wound the wire around plastic floral stems to give them some more heft.

good luck!

And to think my coffee filters I have in my cupboard could do THAT???

Wow.  Just wow.

Has anyone tried these? Which tutorial did you find most helpful? I tried to do the Martha ones but could not get the hang of it - the stumbleupon tutorial is a little bit better for beginners I feel but the roses aren't turning out as nice as I would like.
