OK ladies, wish me tons of luck and good thoughts. I'm so nervous right now! I'm off to drive 3.5 hrs (again) to try Justin Alexander 9552 back on... After I have an engagement shoot in DC and then dinner with a friend... so I won't be back until probably 1am eastern or later...

I'll be able to read WB but have an iPhone so can't update until I'm home... but wish me luck... because I'm so nervous!

I'll be bringing my shoes and earrings I have now.. I don't think they'll work but I want to see in the off chance they do...

I'm in dc waiting on a friend, then I have a 3.5hr drive home. Then I have to go to the obx at 8am. Lol, it's gonna be a long night! I'm afraid pics will have to wait :-( ok. Here's the scoop. Meant to be or not? The girl who has the dress is getting rid o it because her friend just wore it on may! It just came in a few weeks ago in a size 6. I'm probably an 8, bu a 6 very well may work. A lot may depend on seam allowance etc. My accessories will indeed work! Well, all but the belt I bought. I'll hav to double check the hair piece when it comes in but I think itwill do. The girl selling it is coming to VA nexT month for a wedding. So we could make the "purchase" in person. Unfortunately, I have a Philly wedding so well see if that can work. Best scenario, I try on the 6, it fits and I live happily ever After. The store is willing to sell me the really big sample for $1800 which is $200 more than the girl and subject to tax. It's really worn, some threads are hanging, zippers broke, and I don't like the store owners lol. I'd much rather buy from the girl! But will the 6 fit!? Ahhh I think it will, but it will be tight! (and I sit here eating skittles hahahha) so, I'm going to talk to the girl, see if she can find out if there any seam allowance to let out a smidge if necessary and try on Megan tomorrow or sat. She is indeed gorgeous. I technically have 2 amazing dresses in front of me. Ones priced less than my current, kinda my size, and will be local in a few weeks! My earrings, veil, and hair piece work with it... Oh dear oh dear!

I showed it to my male friend in DC last night... after I vented about this saga to the poor guy for a good 15 min. He was like "Can I see them or am I not allowed as well?"  He was like, I like the front of the one you have (megan) but the back of the other one (Justin.) Sigh.... So much to consider!

Oh man. I vote JA, without a doubt. That dress is so much more elegant and classy. I'm with you on the back of the Megan.... not a fan. You look so beautiful in the JA!

In terms of the alteration on the 6, in my experience most wedding dresses are made with pretty hefty seam allowances. Because of the fact that a lot of them have more than just side seams, it gives you even more room.

Man. I'm really rooting for that Justin.

Oh KLP the Justin Alexander is just stunning on you. I actually don't like the Megan (gasp!) I know. Bad EJS. Too trendy? yeah maybe, i dunno....or just that the Justin is so amazing on you. I love that damn dress!

I never usually feel invested in these threads, they're just for fun ... but darn it! I really want you to go for the JA. It just looks like it was made for you. Easy for me to spend your money, I know. :-)

You look SO GOOD in both dresses...but I have to say I have a soft spot for you in the JA!  Is the JA a zip-up??  Do you know for sure that you would be the 8??  Maybe see if you can find a sizing chart online...it is possible you could fit the 6!

The justin SAMPLE is a 10. So the one avail. is 2 sizes smaller...

Here's a close up of the "clamps." It's even on both sides...

I think that I DID see a size chart and I think I was off about an inch in the bust and waist... which is the main measurements for this gown....

An inch? A good seamstress should be able to do that. I wouldn't think it would be that much of a problem.

Or, in the end.... Spanx! lol

If the sample was a 10, I'd bet you could fit the 6.  It might be a little snug, but if you are within an inch of the actual measurement of the 6, you absolutely could make that work.  I wouldn't settle for the 10 if you think the condition is not very good - you would probably need more alterations plus it is more than the dress the other girl is selling!  It just looks so good on you....the JA is SO your dress!

@zippylef: lol - Once we get to bridal size 6/8 I don't know how much good spanx can do ;-) That's the one problem too... I'm working out more, I feel myself getting stronger (wow, my back looks more muscular than I thought in the newest back pic, must be all that surfing...) but when you're a size 4/6 already... I have an inch of fluff to loose, but how easy can I do that? (and that's about all I'd want too...)

@dance: On top of all that, I would MUCH prefer to buy from a girl who is having to sell her dress because her friend wore it for her own wedding than a store I don't like... hahaha Not only that, if I'm going to wind up having to sell my dress, I'd rather sell mine to someone than a store sell it to them ;-)

@KLP2010: How can you NOT buy the JA dress?! It's so stunning on you!!!!! I'm sorry, but you can't wear that other dress. You just can't. The JA dress is made for you. Buy it, find a good seamstress. Make the world of weddings happy ;)

I think you'll be fine in the 6 - an inch is pretty easy to negotiate. You might not be able to eat much on the day... Wink (you could always have one of those wraps that temporarily sucks all the water out of you, making you a couple of inches smaller all over for a week or so!)

I think you're getting a better deal on the 6, too - it's basically unworn and brand new, versus the worn sample dress, plus I'm not sure how taking it in that much will affect the line. Go with the 6. And think how much you're helping out another bride in a similar position to you - it's good Karma.

I have to say, I think the Megan is just as beautiful, but it's a very different gown, and it's clear that your heart is with the JA. There are a million beautiful gowns out there, and with your figure, a million that will look amazing, but there's one gown that's yours, and it's clear that the JA is that gown.
