I woke up this morning with a fantastic cold sore on my bottom lip 🙁 The worst part is that I have my boudoir pics on Saturday morning. This is one of the only opportunities I’ll have to get them done. My fiance is in the army and has a one day (Sat) drill this weekend so he’ll be out of the house, meaning I can load up outfits and things without him asking what I’m doing. I emailed my photographer and she said she could photoshop it out but idk. I don’t exactly feel sexy with this thing on my lip. Plus, its swelling I’m worried about because I can mask the roughness of it or the color of it pretty easily by just buying some cheap lip stick/gloss and then tossing it later.
I was so upset I told my fiance that I may have to not do his wedding present this weekend. He’s baffled as to why a cold sore would matter but then I told him if I did it while he was home, I’d hate lying about where I’m going so he kind of understood that. I’m in such a tough spot because his birthday is May 3rd, he’ll be out of town the 4th-6th and then our wedding is May 14th. I wanted to send a pic a day to his phone starting on his bday so if I had to, I could wait until he’ll be out of town in May, but I really wanted to start on his bday.
Anyway, anyone know of anyway (other than ice and ibuprofen) to get the swelling down?

@paigers91: Buy Abreva. It’s expensive, but it’ll help.

@Rouquine: does it help with the swelling? I have campho phenique because that’s what I usually use to dry it up. It’s been years since I’ve used abreva so I can’t remember if it helped with swelling or not.

That’s the beauty of Photoshop girlfrann! You can take Abreva or my friend got a prescription once that literally makes it go away the next day, but even if it’s still there I would not worry about it at all. One teeny dot will be easy to make go away in photoshop or any editing application!
Also, don’t worry about it making you not feel sexy. You will still be sexy regardless and once you get in the “zone” you won’t even be thinking about it! Don’t stress!

@LoveMySailor1018: I hope so! I actually dried it out earlier with alcohol swabs. (I was so nervous the first time I did this but it works!) and I just went and got abreva. While FI was driving, I was smiling in the mirror (he must think I’m insane) and I think it was actually looking better already! Thank goodness. This cold sore would pop up at the worst moment!

Polysporin makes these little clear band-aid type things you put on cold sores. And the parent company of Cold FX makes Cold Sore FX now, too. My FBIL uses both religiously.

@Jenniphyr: Thanks! I didn’t see that at the Walgreens I went to but I will look for it next time.
On another note, my fiance just shared with me that because he takes adderall (for school, he doesn’t abuse it) and it lowers his sex drive so looking at pictures doesn’t do anything for him. He said he tried once when we were having a dry spell in that area of our relationship. Ugh. I hope its different when its pictures of me!

Oh no please don’t use alcohol! I suffer from coldsores and someone suggested I use alcohol. I now have a permanent scar on my bottom lip/discolouration that shows up in photos if I have no lipstick on.
I swear by a vitamin called Lysine. I bought these from a wellness store and within 2 days it was more or less gone. Previously, I had a coldsore for 1-2 weeks where it would scab and bleed 🙁
I know it may sound ridiculous but since I used this vitamin the first time, I didn’t get another coldsore for 4 years, I swear!
I had one last October and immediately took the Lysine and it was gone within a couple of days.
Regardless, don’t let it inhibit you. Your photographer will Photoshop it out np! Have fun x
