My wedding is THIS Saturday…and my groom has requested that I surprise him with the song I am walking down the aisle to…He specifically said he wanted it to be meangingful and very “US” which makes it harder for me, since “Our” music is basically: Dave Matthews, Coldplay, Mumford&Sons
I think Coldplay would be the best because he LOVES them and they have some sweet love songs (versus Dave Matthews and a little dirtier)
I know VSQ has a version of Yellow and Clocks…but those arnt our favorite Coldplay songs. I am more interested in “Til Kingdom Come” or “Sparks” or “Swallowed in the Sea” but unless I play these songs with words, they are not great instrumentally.
My bridesmaids are all pushing for VSQ’s Cant Help Falling In Love…which is an amazing tune to walk down the aisle…but it is not anything my FI and I would consider “us”
Does anyone have any quick advice or suggestions? I am meeting with my DJ Thursday afternoon and I really need this last peice of the puzzle figured out. I reached out to the Best Man (also a huge Coldplay fan) and he agreed that my groom would really love a Coldplay song.
I’m not crazy about having lyrics during my walk down the aisle…

Perhaps you could look up a piano version or violin version?
The songs we chose were from alternative/rock groups and we used piano versions from youtube. They sounded great, we still kept “our songs” but they sound much more romantic and fit for a wedding.

So are you walking down the aisle to a song without the words? If so, what about “Us against the world ” by coldplay? I was actually considering having this song in my wedding for the bridal party to walk into.

wlphilli: We had an acapella choir at our wedding. They sang a mix of music from Hall and Oats, to Florence and the Machine, even and U2 (All I Want is You….which I walked down the aisle to)…plus a few others. I say pick the songs you and your fiance love and are meaningful. It will make it all the more special for you. 🙂

jrae05: Ideally, I do not want lyrics. Do you think Us Against the World is good enough as instrumental?
That seems to be the problem I am having, the music sounds weak when you take out the lyrics. I do love that song too though.
LondonAutumn: We’ve been to a wedding together (recently) and she walked into “Yellow” and it’s not a favorite of his. I think it is the best instrumental song I have found so far…so I have not crossed it off my list.

wlphilli: have you checked out the two VSQ’s two coldplay ablums? Anything on there that’d work?

Are you set on string music? Piano Guys have done covers of Coldplay songs (instrumental) as well, and they were beautiful.
Our church pianist played Fix You by Coldplay while we signed our registry; people commented afterwards how great it was, and as my all-time favourite song, it was really special to hear.

ykyegbride: I am not set on string music but I can only find Paradise and Viva La Vida from ThePianoGuys…am I missing some others?
katem73: That is my FAVORITE song from them right now, but FI likes the older albums. We are having that song during dinner, as well as Magic

Lalavla: I’ve been looking on YouTube, but it just dawned on me to check out the VSQ website and they have several other Coldplay songs. I’m still kind of stuck….

wlphilli: What about The Scientist? I love that song from Coldplay, it’s not as fast and it’s slow tempo.
And just the piano version.

mrs.joiner: I love it as well and had it on my list…except the chorus is “Nobody said it was easy, It’s such a shame we had to part, Nobody said it was easy, No one ever said it would be this hard” which makes me…not love it for my wedding song? Lol
