I have been working on my undergraduate degree for a very long time. This is my final year – year seven. I wanted to buy a class ring in high school, but my mom told me to wait for when I graduated from university – so I did. Now the time has come to start looking at them, but the one I want is $400! That’s crazy – I don’t even want anything elaborate.
So, my question is – did you get a class ring? Do you wear it? Is it worth spending that much money on? Or should I just convince Darling Husband that I really should get a wonderful fancy RHR? Will I regret not having one?

I went to simon Fraser university and I don’t think a class ring was ever even presented as an option. I was going to say this must be a US thing but I see you’re in AB… So obviously not. Maybe I was just so poor when I graduated uni that I never looked at the catalogue.

I’m not getting one for college, but I had one from high school. FH has it now, and he tends to wear it on a chain around his neck. I loved it, because I had a real emotional attachment to my school. I don’t have that with my university, so I don’t see the point.
My high school ring was totally worth the $250. I got it through Walmart, and it was incredibly easy.

I have my college class ring, but rarely wear it. I spend almost $900 so I feel like it was kind of a waist, but I am also really proud of it because it shows what I have accomplished. I should really wear it more often!

I want one, I plan on getting one for both undergrad and grad school. I would rather have one and not wear it, then not ever get one and regret it. I still wear my high school ring occasionally.

I never bought one from my univiversity and I always regretted it. I am actually in the process of gathering information to see if I can purchase it now.

I got one in high school that was $470. I only remember the price because I had to call my estranged father to help pay for it. I wore it for less than 6 months and after that it set in a drawer for 12 years. Last year I sold it when the price of gold went up because I absolutely never wore it nor did I see myself wearing it again. I loved the design at the time but it was outdated and no longer my personal style.

I am graduating in December of next year, and am planning on getting one. it’s tradition at my school, you get a pin when you start your first year, and then ‘trade’ the pin in (you get to keep your pin so you don’t actually trade it, but they call it The Trade anyways), after you graduate for a ring. It’s apart of our graduation ceremony. If you don’t want a ring, you don’t have to get one. There’s the basic school ring, which is just a plain gold band with the school monogram on it, which the school gives, or you can upgrade to a more expensive ring.

I got a class ring in high school, and while I think it’s really pretty I never wear it because I just don’t give a shit about my high school anymore. I really want one when I graduate college this year though, I’ve loved everything about my experience here and I think it’d be nice to have something to comemorate that. Also Fiance wears his class ring every day and I think it’s super cool and want to copy him. But I hate all the ones they’re currently selling through jostens and whatever the other one is, I can’t find anything else decent, or in my price range. The closest is a Walmart class ring that’s like $70 but it looks really crappy. So I probably just won’t end up getting one. Oh well.

I don’t think they’re a thing we have in the UK. I’ve never seen anyone with one anyway. Everyone bought university hoodies though in rainbow colours. I wanted one for a while but I can’t wear hoodies or my boobs choke me.
If I were in your situation I’d buy a nice RHR. Which university you went to doesn’t stay relevant forever. Shinies do!

I wore mine for about a year after I graduated and then it went back in the jewelry box…

I wore my hs class ring all junior and senior year of HS and part of college freshmen. It was really pretty and cost like $400 so I wore it. But I haven’t in 3 years I know some people who wear their college ($$$$$$$) rings a lot who are 20+ years out from graduation but those are generally Texas Longhorn alum or Texas A&M alum where the ring really is a HUGE deal, and the alum are kind of crazy hardcore fans. Likex the kind of alum that hire people who are alum too because some insane school pride. But I don’t know many people from less well known schools who wear them. I don’t have one, i thought about getting a pretty ring with stones in our school colors but with the job I will get after graduation, I can’t wear much jewelry so i didnt see the point.

I didn’t get one from college (just graduated) but I might get one eventually. I have one from high school that I still wear on a regular basis. I’m annoyed that they sized me wrong for the hs ring and I never got it fixed but oh well.
What really sticks with me is back in high school my guidance counselor showed me his college class ring and said it cost 85k. And I said thats expensive! And he told me 4 years of school is expensive. Now I wish my undergrad only cost 85k….

I didn’t get a high school ring, and I didn’t get a college ring. I have no regrets.
I wanted mine in platinum, and the group working with the schools didn’t do rings in platinum. They told me that colleges generally did their rings in platinum, so I figured I’d wait until college. I got to college, and aside from no platinum rings, by that point I was so frustrated with my school that I didn’t really want anything with their name/logo on it than my diplomas.

I have one that looks a lot like the pic you posted, only more petite and in white gold. I love it and wear it often. I definitely prefer the look of the stoneless rings. I can’t say whether or not you would regret not getting one, but I am very attached to mine. My high school ring, however, I don’t care about anymore.
