My fi and I met in college so I want to incorporate this somehow so what we will be doing is naming our assigned tables after different halls and special places to us from our university along with a little saying about why that place is so special to us…any other couples doing anything special for their universities??

i had an oregon state garter. his family are really big fans of that school

Cute idea, but FYI, Our venue REALLY cautioned us against using anything other than numbers for our tables, since it tends to make it more confusing for guests and they want guests to enter and sit fast.
You could do a grooms cake in your alma mater’s mascot and/or have your reception entrance song be your school’s fight song!

I didn’t meet my fiance in college, but he loved his college and I love going back for football games together when we can. So, our reception entrance song is going to be one of the songs they play at football games to pump the crowd up.

o we also did the fight song. i kinda forgot that…. it wasnt what was supposed to play but the whole reception didnt go off the right way any ways… the bridal party was suppose to come out with the oregon state fight song— this was suppose to be funny because 3 out of the 4 bridesmaids are oregon fans, and 4 of the 5 grooms men are also oregon fans.lol..

Its not something people will really see, but you can make a garter with your school colors in it.

We’re getting married on campus, coming into our reception to Enter Sandman (youtube VT football entrance if you have to, but it’s pretty well known), my wedding shoes are maroon and orange and I will have a maroon and orange garter. I love my school 🙂
ETA: youtubed it for you guys, this energy is just so amazing, my favorite 30 seconds every week.

i was thinking about doing that!
but i would use numbers, as well.
like 1. Gore Hall
2. The Green
etc etc etc
also, you can rent our mascot for an appearance… but my fiance says thats a no-go. party pooper!

@September29: He is a party pooper! I’d love to have the Hokie bird show up at our wedding haha.

I snuck a few flowers made out of longhorn print paper into my centerpieces and my hubby’s boutonnierre, since we did the whole paper flower thing and our colors included orange. Also just using orange and ivory was sort of inspired by our school colors (University of Texas at Austin, Texas longhorns!)

I have been thinking about this lately because we are both Penn State alumni. Considering what is going on there, not sure if this would be in bad taste? I originally wanted to pick black and pink (original school colors) as blue ismy sister’s favorite color so probably what she will have at her wedding.

@kerensa: It’s still your school, even if bad things happen there are many things for you to be proud of and reasons why you love it. When the first lady did the commencement here this year she told us when someone says “isn’t that the school where…” just to cut them off with all the positive things, and what you love about your school. Your call, but don’t let something someone else did take away from what you want if it’s what you really want 🙂
