I'm the same exact way, and i'm having a gray dress. I've had a LOT of support from my family but they are VERY open minded people.
I say white is not the only color, it wasn't even in trend until one of the English Queens wore it on their wedding day. Use the color and have fun with it!
There is not going to be one ounce of white at my wedding and I'm loving EVERY minute of it.
Yes!!!! I started to think I was the only one. Are your bridesmaids wearing color as well?
I will wear blue and they will wear african violet.
I love colored wedding dresses! I'm especially fond of gold, gray, blue, and pink/blush dresses.
Here are some dresses I love for inspiration:
oooohhhhh those are FAB-U-LOUS. Are you wearing color by any chance?
My MOH picked out the dark purple bridesmaid dress and the rest of my bridesmaid picked out this really dark pewter color, I'm in love with it. We have a lavendar flouncy flowergirl (compliments of my fiance) and the guys will be in dark gray suits with purple accents.
The bouquets are also purple feathers and paper roses in a gray purple color, so LOTS of colors are going to be going down that aisle :)
I'm not bold, but I want something like a rum pink color. Best w/my skin.
I loved my dress. It was truly my dream dress ... and was in a shade of white. Yes, who knew there's are hundreds of shades of white?
However, I do admire Indian weddings, especially for all of the color! I love color. I think that the bride should wear whatever makes her glow and feel beautiful!
I'm kind of jealous - I was planning on wearing blue and I was going to have it made as well, but I have to admit I chickened out : ( But not because other people didn't support the idea - my fiance just wants me to wear a dress I love and my parents by now know I'm not a traditional kind of bride. In the end, I was worried about not feeling bridal enough, but that was just as much about the style I was going to have made as it was about the color. I think a bride should wear whatever color she wants - would love to see pics when it's done!
@bellenga rum pink is gorgeous.
@mshymanroth-I couldn't agree more. I think a bride should wear exactly what makes her feel like the most beautiful person in the world on her day. White or not white. I think the dress is such a personal choice b/c you want to put on something that makes you feel so confident you just glide to the man of your dreams. There are SOOOO many shades of white!
@vanessa b You definitely have good taste in colored dresses.
@TPHoliday I love purple and feathers! We're having both as well. Since I'm a winter bride, whenever I mention color, I would get an odd look so I've learned to just shut my mouth regarding the dress. lol
hey everyone .. i fell in LOVE with this wedding dress ... BUT my wedding is in the fall.. so I wanted to do fall colors.. but what do you all think about this dress??
ok ... I was searching the web this afternoon.. and found a dress in a burnt orange color, I really like it !! Iam going to call the store to see if they have it, so I can try it on.. PLUS it would go with our fall theme wedding.. here is a picture of it from the front and back.. I just love the color!! And am thinking that the bridesmaids can wear either a Burnt yellow or red dress..

I'm definitely what most consider "non-traditional", so it was only natural that when I started thinking about the perfect dress for me, there was no white involved.
When I say NO white, I mean NO white-not diamond, not ivory, white-white, cream or whatever other color of white runs the scale.
Of course most people think i'm insane.
I wanted to still feel like a bride, so I knew I would have a bridal gown, just not a white bridal. I'm going full color. To do so, I had to have it made by a designer in NY but I got the best of both words-a wedding dress in my favorite color (blue).
Are there any other Brides going "bold" down the aisle? Have you had any backlash yet?
Ironically, this board is the only place I've actually announced the color. I have told people the dress won't be white, but want to leave the color as a surprise (probably the only one i'll be able to keep :))
