Color Help...Please!!!

posted 6 months ago in Beehive

<span style="font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Verdana">I am getting married in October of this year and still have not finalized my colors! This is stressing me out way to much, so I thought I would get some support from the girls here. Since the wedding is in October I decided that we should have a fall theme (my fiancé and I love the season) there is just on major but…I don’t want it to look like Thanksgiving! I ordered my bridesmaid dresses in Burnt Orange, but that has been the only major color decision I have been able to make. We were considering doing a Platinum and Burnt Orange, but the reception is going to be inside and the ballroom does not have a lot of natural light, I am afraid that it will look to dark. For flowers we were thinking of doing some orange, greens and white…maybe some brown. I just simply can’t decide. Does anyone have any suggestions for other matching colors? or good color combinations.

<span style="font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Verdana">Thanks!!!!

I am getting married in October as well. We are incorporating the fall into our wedding but will doing it with a twist. We are useing the typical fall colors but will be also adding a deep purple, deep red and other deep colors with the oranges and yellows. We don't really have "colors" we are doing deep purple bridesmaids dresses and gun metal gray vests. Other wise it is just playing a bunch of colors that match the orange's, and yellow's and reds.  Hope this helps.

Adding some bright citrusy greens or pops of lemony yellows might be nice.

A periwinkle or a purpley blue hue would play off the burnt orange & browns

Google "Snippet and Ink" for some inspiration boards that might get you on the right track.

How about a light gray? Check out the local boards map... orange and gray rock

or maybe a camomile yellow, I think that would also be stunning

Do all those colors! My reception will be inside as well, with zero natural lights, and I'm doing cranberry and charcoal grey. Then some bright white for any accents (candles, etc). Orange, green, white, and brown are wonderful fall colors and as long as you don't have a turkey sitting on the table, I think you'll be fine. What colors are in the room? The walls in ours are off white, so I feel that that is enough to make it not so dark. A great idea is to actually go to your florist, tell them your ideas, and they'll show you pictures of bouquets and centerpieces with those colors, so you can see what they look like. Another option and more immediate, is to look through the Knot's "real wedding" pages, here are their "orange" ideas: http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/themes/realweddings/results.aspx?type=1&colors=Orange. Good luck! Autumn is such a beautiful time of year!

I've seen sunflowers into September and October decor.  Definitely not Halloween or Thanksgiving-y.

All of your suggestions are wonderful! I think I really like the light gray or silver with the burnt orange but I just needed some reassurance from someone.

What do you think of Gray to light silver table cloths (they will probably look a little darker inside), Burnt orange napkins, Gray to light silver chair covers with burnt orange sashes. The center pieces will incorporate some orange, green, white and brown.

The bridesmaid dress will be Burnt Orange, and the groomsmen’s vests will be gray. My flowers will be orange and my FI’s boutonniere will match my flowers. The bridesmaids will have green and white flower and the groomsmen boutonnières will match them.>
