What are the other colors of the wedding? Maybe you can match on the other colors or maybe a neutral like grey or black for the tux accessories (vest, tie, etc)...
Can you post a pic of your bridesmaid dresses? Otherwise maybe you could go with a blend of blues and purples. I think it'd be really pretty. Instead of changing all the groomsmen you could change their flowers so the group looks cohesive, but may not be the exact same shade
Another idea, we had this problem too. my girls are wearing custom champagne pink dresses. Well, tuxes don't come in that color. Here's waht we did
Groomsmen: black tux, white shirt, black vest, champagne tie, pink flower
Groom: Black tux, black shirt, white vest, white tie, cream flower
Is that an option? Then you'd only have to find a tie that works. We bought ours at Dillards. They were $50 apiece (eek! I know, ugh) but we were really frustrated by the color options at tux stores
also you might be able to get a neutral vest and get a matching or almost matching tie. Silver would look nice and the girls could wear silver shoes. At zazzle.com you can order custom ties and they are great, not 100% sure about color matching though. You might even be able to order ties from wherever you got your dresses.
ejs4y8- i think we are on the same wavelength, you are just quicker than me!
Here is the BM dress. It's a very deep purple. The colors of the wedding are deep purple, hot pink and touches of teal. I want the bridal party to be coheasive so that's why we wanted the groomsmen to wear purple. I was thinking of doing another shade of purple, but won't that look bad in pictures especially? My FI did mention doing a platium color of the groomsmen, but I don't know if that's going ot look out of place.
Check out men's wearhouse or check out Miss. Beagle's post on her dark purple bridesmaid dresses: http://www.weddingbee.com/2009/05/19/weekend-wedding-warriors-part-i/
That dress is beautiful! Also, I like your FI's idea of platinum. It will look really sharp next to the girls in deep purple. Maybe add a pop of color with their bouts - can you do deep purple bouts for the guys?
Also, you have a really bold color palatte, so maybe having the guys in platinum would really let your flowers take the stage in pictures.
Don't worry, as Stacy & Clinton would say from What Not to Wear, they don't have to match, they just have to go! I was also going to suggest Miss Beagle's recent post...I actually almost pasted because I didn't see it above, lol! Also, what other colors are in your wedding? You can pair MANY colors with purple and it will still look great and of course don't forget about all your neutral options like black, champagne, silver, grey, etc.
I really love the platinum idea. I personally don't like everyone to match excessively, I LOVE the cohesive look of "we go together but aren't twins" and a neutral color like platinum would be a nice, stark different. Not to mention, it has the same depth as a shade of purple (for instance you aren, 't pairing platinum with baby blue) and will look equally rich. You could do platinum vests with dark purple, matching ties. Shoot, if you wanna go all out, find purple ties with pink flourish. Now that's a sweet idea

The bridesmaid dressers for my wedding were ordered more than a month ago and now I'm having second thoughts about the color. My FI and I went looking at tuxes again this weekend and couldn't find a vest/tie combo that matched the BM dresses color. Now I'm starting to second guess my choice and I don't know what to do. I have no idea what old vest/tie combo the groomsman should wear now that the purples don't match... Any ideas??
