(sorry ahead of time for all the pictures. Figured I’d actually make my inspiration boards useful)
Firstly, THANK YOU to the bees who posted when I first started thinking about combining a old, whimsical, vintage theme with the Pixar movie Up. We decided on a mailbox cardholder, 30” balloons, a diy photobooth and a charming venue. What I’m not sure about is the color scheme. First I will show you what we’ve got going so far and you are more than welcome to add any comments/critque that aren’t about the color scheme.
Do we go with a general color mix (pastel, vibrant, summer)/ go with aqua and blue/ blue and green with touches of yellow/ blue, green, and peach/ something different?
First, my lil inspiration board for the photo booth, the balloons, and a venue pic to show how it has come together so far. I am wondering if “whimsical vintage” is enough to pull everything together.
The photo booth inspiration
Choice 1: general bright summer color
Choice 2: aqua/light blue and red
Choice 3: blue and green
Choice 4: Blue, Green, Peach (inspiration board courtesy of theknot.com)
ALSO: one stand out as a bad idea? please comment!

I really like the first choice of colors. I think it’s look great with your venue and inspiration!

@lola blue: @krystallite: Thanks! I love the first color scheme too but worried that it would look less put together or coordinated than the others.

Im loving choice 4…. Those colors just scream out vintage! But they are all nice 🙂

I like the look of number 1 but I did notice their is a slight color combo of blue, pink, yellow and green, so it’s really not all over the place. i think that is the key. lots of colors but using a set of colors and not worrying about mixing different shades of those colors together. i love the idea of mixing the blue and green with the bright yellow in the 3rd inspiration board and the peach from the last board.

I really love number 4. The almost muted colors in number 4 would really give you a lot of freedom in the kinds of vintage or whimisical things you may want to incorporate.

@glaca:When you say vintage, what era are you thinking about? If it is to go along with your venue , the estate in the picture, I would guess it is victorian. That would be lace and pinks, peach, creamy whites and ivory and some blues and greens for accent. Roses are a good choice and crystals work well. Have a great time with it.

I’ve only seen UP once, and it seemed to me that choice 4, blue, green, peach/rose fits the color scheme of the movie the best. However, now that I’ve done a search online for pictures of the movie, it seems like choice 3 goes better…

They all look great but the last one is by far the best! I love that dusty rose in anything 🙂
