I think a Robin's Egg blue would look nice with a black & white damask
What about a light grayish blue? Kind of like a slate or pewter...
@honeybun: I'm a real color-whore (scuze my french) .. i love bright colors, they make my eyes very happy, however my FI is kind of laid back and bright, flashy colors isn't really his style. It's important that he have a say in all of the decisions, and since blue is actually both of our fave colors, i figured it really would work well! It just so happens that my FI bought me this beautifullllll collection of markers (i'm also an art-aisle in walmart whore, lol) from Bic and there is a color in there called "Hot Aqua" it makes me so happy.. but it looks a bit too Tiffany-esque. I didnt want to go that route, so i'm having a hard time with the choice. AHHH!
The reason I decided that i loved that midnight blue was because one of my BMs came to visit from FL and for fun we went to DB to try on some dresses.. she tried one on and both of our mouths fell open when stepped out of the changing room. She looked in the mirror and nearly cried. It's just.. breathtaking. I dunno.. for fall ...do you think a lighter blue would be ok?
Decisions, Decisions!
I am one of those people who doesn't really follow any of these wedding rules LOL, so I'm prob not a good one to answer here. Because I think any color is fine, any time of the year!

Look at the wedding posted on sept 19 on that blog. Its kind of funky, but includes the damask black, blue, and some red. Just wanted you to get an idea what light blue looks like with damask and black.
I like the idea of a bright aqua blue. Kinda like how some people do the black/white and pink scheme.
I think a brighter/ligher blue would give a nice contrast to the black, maybe cornflower blue or aqua?
HI ladies.. thank you for all the ideas.. i was so unsure about a lighter blue or a jewel tone because of the season.. but just like Honeybun, i tend not to follow the rules most of the time.. i'm just nervous i guess..?
And some of you have mentioned a grey-blue or a slate.. thats a little too quiet for me...and.. not quite "happy" enough.
I am attaching some of the colors I have considered.. please let me know what you think!
Hey Ladies... umm.. I have a potentially stupid question! It came to me in the middle of the night actually.
For those of us brides who go with something like Black and White Damask.. what exactly would you want Damask'd? Table linens? BM dresses? Like.. I think I sort of fell in love with the print for STD's or Invites... but i wasn't thinking too clearly about incorporating it into the wedding itself. Because of this new revelation, I'm wondering if I should just do Ivory or White with Navy, sort of a clean, classic look. But is that going to stay true to a seasonal fall wedding? Probably not.. and my FI doesn't really like "browns" so i'm struggling with that. Oh boy.. these choices never end do they?
Also, whilst looking on line for blue flowers, I came across this sweet and fun bouqet of shocking blue hydrangea wrapped in navy ribbons with white polka dots and I was star struck to say the least ;) I'm not sure where i'm going with any of this.. can anyone help me clarify??
I'm lost in a color-abyss :/
**bump**
any other suggestions on the Damask thing ladies??
I was originally going to do black and white damask and red, but have moved in a whole other direction since. I wasn't planning to do any of the big stuff in damask (tablecloths, dresses, etc.) in damask, but smaller things such as details on ribbon, table runners...stuff like that.
Those blue hydrangeas - are sooooooooooo pretty! I'm not usually big on blue, but that picture is just ahhhhhhh, amazing!
My sister is also doing the black and white damask...with yellow as the accent color. The bridesmaid dresses will be black with the exception of mine, which will be the black and white damask print. The bouquets will be yellow although she is undecided about damask ribbon or a plan black ribbon.
Let me see if I can find the dress and post a pic.
I didn't really answer the question did I? I would paper goods (invites, menus, programs, etc) and table linens OR paper goods, MOH dress, FG dress. I wouldn't have it throughout b/c you don't want your wedding party looking like your linens and vice versa.
@jamaica: Wow, I am in love with that pic of that wedding party!!! The whole look together with the dresses and the flowers!
Why not do different shades of blue? I love the look of that bright blue and navy bouquet you posted.
Personally, I'm partial to a more cobalt blue.
@jamaica- I love those BMs dresses!

Hello my sweetiebees :)
I have a problem (what else is new?)
My Fi and I have been going baaaack and foooorth on a color scheme. I think we've finally settled on black/white damask but also wanted a hue of blue stuck in there somewhere. Midnight was a really nice choice, but hard to find and is too close to black. Any other ideas or suggestions for Blue(s) for the months of Sept/Oct/Nov of 2010?
HELP!
xoxo
