I’m up North, and the smoke from Big Meadows is blowing over big time. Oy. Frown

We burned so much around here last year that there’s frankly not enough fuel for another huge out of control fire this summer in my area — blessing and a curse I suppose. I have a trip planned to Pagosa Springs soon, and I’m hoping that we’re spared the apprehension of nearby wildfires there.

Glad to hear that you’re out of harm’s way. Do stay safe!!

We’re near Lone Tree so aren’t affected but can see the smoke from the Black Forest fire 🙁  Just saw on tv that the Royal Gorge fire is over 1,000 acres now…

our venue is right in the middle of the black forest… praying that it some how makes it out okay so we don’t have to plan everything in the five months remaining of our engagement..

@bmo88 when are they getting married? Im so stressed and now have absolutely no idea what to do.. Five months is a lot but I am a teacher (second year and still so much to learn) so I pretty much just have the summer to get everything done. Our main problem is we have already paid a large chunk of money to the venue for our deposit, and if we don’t get that back we can’t afford to find another venue and pay for it in just five months. So far the elementary school and gas station down the road (less than a mile) caught fire and exploded, so it would be a miracle if our venue survived. No official word, just tweets saying it is gone…

I’m in Durango, so I’m far from the current fires, but thinking about all of you! We haven’t had any fires…yet. Unfortunately I think this summer is going to be a tough one for our state 🙁

What causes these fires? I know dry weather means things are more flammable, but there has to be a match struck or cigarette butt or something to actually start them doesn’t there?

I hope it gets contained soon!

I’m in Denver currently, but I grew up in Colorado Springs. Lots of my friends and their families were affected by the fires last year, and several more have been evacuated in the last 24 hours. Scary stuff for sure.

It’s going to be a long, dry summer, ugh. We have similar issues in the hills/inland from the Bay here.
